Published on January 9, 2021 Panaji: A State-wide research study conducted by volunteers of social forum Goemcho Goenkar along with cardiac specialists and experts from Healthburg Multispecialty Hospital and Raksha Hospital, Mumbai led by Dr Pranav Kabra cardiac specialist and diabetologist, and six other doctors, along with other medical practitioners, consultants and paramedics has revealed that the incidence of heart disease in Goa has increased by more than 30 per cent in the last two years. The year-end, state-wide survey was part of Project Goemcho Goenkars various social activities and was conducted in the month of December 2020, wherein medical histories of nearly 2850 persons across the state were sampled and analyzed, said a spokesperson for Goemcho Goenkar. Dr Pranav Kabra (MD) was assisted by Dr Ashish Purohit (MD, Medicine), Dr Sufiyan and Dr Gausiya who conducted the survey and prepared the inputs for the report of Goemcho Goenkar. Continue reading

As hospitals scramble to find enough staff and supplies to treat COVID-19 patients, county officials have told ambulance crews to limit their use of oxygen and stop bringing in certain patients with little to no chance of survival. The Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services agency has instructed ambulance crews not to bring in most patients without a pulse if they cant be resuscitated in the field or terminally ill patients with do-not-resuscitate orders if the hospital treatment would be related to end-of-life care. Some hospitals around LA County have also had trouble finding enough portable oxygen containers and getting them refilled, according to county officials, prompting the instructions sent today to conserve it unless a patient falls below a certain oxygen saturation threshold Continue reading
