WEBB CITY -- "I was thinking that somebody was breaking in," says David Hudson.

When he received a call from his security company a little before 11PM Friday night, Hudson believed his store, Bruner Pharmacy in Webb City was being burglarized.

"The number of law enforcement here concerned me as I was driving up," Hudson says.

As he got closer, Hudson realized a truck had driven through a brick wall and into his pharmacy. Webb City police officers say it did not take long for them to respond.

"One of our officers witnessed a vehicle hit a parked vehicle," says Cpl. Brad Brown with the Webb City Police Department. "And then he called over the radio, told us and we all came to the scene. Once we arrived, we noticed that the vehicle had crashed into Bruner Pharmacy as well. We started the investigation from that point."

The driver of the vehicle's insurance will take care of the cost of the damage, but Hudson says it could take some time to fix the wall.

"With the holidays I believe it should be difficult to get somebody over here, but it shouldn't be over a few weeks."

Officers believe the driver was traveling 70 miles per hour down Main Street when he struck a parked car on the right side of the road, crossed over the left hand lane, ran through a four-way stop sign and crashed into the pharmacy. The driver and his passenger are suspected of being under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the wreck.

"(We are) collecting evidence at this point," Brown says. "The passenger and the driver were taken in. Continuing the investigation part of it, collecting evidence, trying to find witnesses and talk to them. Just go from there with the investigation."

Hudson says he is just grateful the accident wasn't much worse.
