Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy Treatment in Mumbai India
He is a known case of CP, with history of twin, preterm, C-section delivery with LBW and poor Apgar scores. Gradually, parents noticed that his milestones were delayed as compared to his twin brother. So he was investigated and diagnosed to have CP. He was then recommended rehabilitation. Neurologically, he is hypertonic and hypereflexic. On examination: He has all sensations intact. He is normal intellectually, for his age and follows commands. He has poor voluntary control of bilateral lower extremity and fair fine motor activity of upper extremity. He walks with elbow crutches with croch Gait. After Stem Cell Therapy PT assessment-- Subjectively: 1) Parents report that while kneeling can balance and duration has increased, can do for 45 minutes. 2) No collapse while standing, needs assistance to stand but balance has improved. 3) Transfers are easier -- like getting up and sit down -- control descent. 4) Push off is better while walking, ie stability has improved. 5) ADL independent -- toileting activities, upper extremities dressing like T-shirts but not shirts due to buttoning, requires minimal help in lower body dressing. 6) Speed in handwriting is better and there is slight improvement in handwriting. According to PT (Dr. Mayur) -- 1) With minimal assistance hip stability improved as he could achieve abduction Objectively: 1) Able to sit more erect. 2) Bed mobility is much better. 3) Hand functions are better.
