COBLESKILL - A Cobleskill 15-year-old on Wednesday became the first child whose wish --a new above-ground pool --could be fulfilled by Make-A-Wish Northeast New York since the pandemic began, the organization said. A CHIRK girl with cerebral palsy is looking to take on a huge challenge in memory of a late family friend. Lydia Griffiths is set to climb Snowdon in memory of Joannah Houghton, who she knew as Auntie Jo, who died in April after a four-year battle with cancer By taking on the challenge, Lydia hopes to raise 1,000 for Wrexham-based charity Nightingale House Hospice, which has supported Mrs Houghtons family. Among the many supporting Lydia with her challenge to summit the 3,560-foot-tall mountain will be her parents Darren and Joanne, and her twin sister Madison, who are all extremely proud of Lydia for walking in memory of Auntie Jo Continue reading

He argues the change is needed because funding for assisted housing is partially provided by the North East Local Health Integration Network (NE LHIN), thereby making it a branch of Ontario's health care system. Thousands of people have signed a petition calling for theme parks to be more inclusive for children with disabilities after a five-year-old boy was made to get out of his wheelchair and walk before he was allowed on aride at Legoland. Sebby Brett, from Gloucestershire,has a condition similar to cerebral palsy, which means he cannot walk even short distances without help. His mother Joanna said the family were left humiliated after a trip to Legoland last September when he was told he could not board the Ninjago ride unless he proved he could walk. Continue reading

Many people have likened what we are experiencing today with COVID-19 to a war. As somebody who loves to study history and who spent my university days majoring in this very subject, I reflect on the war that was coming to an end 75 years ago the Second World War. In the summer of 1945, the allied forces, led by the two countries of which I am proud to be a citizen, the USA and Great Britain, had won the war in Europe and were only weeks away from defeating Japan.
