Vitamin D and eczema

Posted: Published on August 2nd, 2018

If I have eczema, should I take vitamin D? Yes, absolutely. Of all the health conditions helped by vitamin D, few respond as well as eczema. Solid scientific evidence supports that statement as you can read below. In fact, vitamin Ds effects on eczema are so robust, if you dont respond, it may not be eczema. It usually takes 2-3 months to respond but this will depend on what vitamin D blood level you achieved. The dose is usually between 5,000 15,000 IU (125 375 mcg)/day. No two achieve the same blood level after taking vitamin D, which is why the dosage range is so great. First have a vitamin D blood level done, either at your doctors or use one of our in-home test kits. Then, you need to take enough vitamin D for several months to get your vitamin D blood level above 50 ng/ml. You can go to your doctor or purchase one of our in-home vitamin D test kits. The best scientific study to decide if a treatment is effective, is a meta-analysis, which is a combination of multiple clinical trials. There are at least two separate meta-analyses [1],[2],[3] showing that vitamin D is an effective … Continue reading

Eczema – kidshealth.org

Most kids get itchy rashes at one time or another. But eczema can be a nuisance that may prompt scratching that makes the problem worse. The term eczema refers to a number of different skin conditions in which the skin is red and irritated and sometimes hassmall, fluid-filled bumps that become moist and ooze. The most common cause of eczema is atopic dermatitis (sometimes called infantile eczema), which affects older kids as well asinfants. The word "atopic" describes conditions that happen when someone is overly sensitive to allergens in the environment. These include pollens, molds, dust, animal dander, and certain foods. "Dermatitis" means that the skin is inflamed, or red and sore. Kids who get eczema often have family members with hay fever, asthma, or other allergies. Some experts think these kids may be genetically inclined to get eczema, which means characteristics have been passed on from parents through genes that make a child more likely to get it. About half of the kids who get eczema will also someday develop hay fever or asthma themselves. Eczema is not an allergy itself, but allergies can trigger it. Some environmental factors (such as excessive heat or emotional stress) also can trigger … Continue reading

Eczema: The Autoimmune Disease Everyone Seems To Be …

Posted: Published on July 15th, 2018

The No Cause, No Cure Paradigm for Eczema is Wrong Ive always been a questioner. This is why I believe eczema can be healed and reversed (and new science backs this). When I was a little kid, I asked lots of questions because I wanted to know how and why things worked. Conversations Id frequently have with my parents would go something like this: Me: Why does my tummy hurt? Parent: Probably because you just swallowed your gum. Me: Why would gum make my tummy hurt? Parent: When you swallow your gum it can stick to your insides. Me: Why would it stick to my insides? Parent (frustrated): Oh, I dont know, it just does! At this point I usually stopped the dialogue because I was clearly annoying my parents and I was frustrated that I didnt get the answers I desired. Even as little kid I couldnt understand why gum wouldnt be digested like the rest of my food?? It also didnt make sense to me that it would stick to my insides. There is always a reason why (even if not everyone know the answer). Those same feelings of frustration and disbelief came to the surface for me … Continue reading

No more sleepless nights! How to stop itchy eczema

Posted: Published on July 8th, 2018

Eczema is often referred to as the itch that you cant scratch but a more accurate statement should be the itch you SHOULDNT scratch! When you scratch your eczema, you tear open nerve endings and sensitive skin that can lead to bacterial infections, more inflamed patches of skin, and an increased risk of large scarring when your eczema does heal over. We want to avoid that! When I went through the Flawless Program to heal my eczema, I noticed that a lot of the itchiness subsided as my gut and immune system began to heal. However, there were still timesat night that I found it hard to stop scratching, and I noticed that other people, including children, alsohad the same issue. We all deserve to get a good nights sleep, so let me share with you a few of my tricks that I used when my eczema was the itchiestparticularly at night. It has to do with a bit of science and learning how to trick your brain! First things first, lets ask ourselvesthis question: Itching usually starts with a outside stimulus, think of an insect bite, dust, or prickly clothing for example. (In the case of most eczema, its when … Continue reading

DIY Homemade Eczema Cream – Kula Mama

Posted: Published on July 8th, 2018

Childhood eczema can be very uncomfortable for your little one. We know all too well how child eczema can affect the whole family. You can read about how I healed my daughters eczema naturally in this post. I know first-hand how itchy and cranky a child with eczema can be. While the cause of eczema resides on the inside and requires a holistic approach to heal,a homemade eczema cream may be beneficial while you wait for the internal healing to begin. We used a homemade eczema cream made with shea butter, coconut oil and lavender and melaleuca (tea tree) essential oils for my daughter. This cream contains healing properties to soothe your childs irritated skin and offer some relief. When we didnt have time to make our own cream, we used this manuka honey eczema cream instead. The ingredients: Shea butter: High in vitamin A, shea butter is healing for an array of skin conditions including eczema, dermatitis and even wrinkles. Make sure you use 100% pure shea butter like this one. Coconut oil: Coconut oil is naturally tough on bacteria and fungi and this helps to keep the skin clean (source), while the medium chain triglycerides are wonderfully moisturizing … Continue reading

Make Your Own Eczema Cream – Dr. Axe

Posted: Published on July 3rd, 2018

The word eczemaitself just doesnt sound good. It comes from a Greek word that means to effervesce, bubble or boil over. And forthe 30 million (!), according to the Eczema Foundation, people who suffer from it, they know it doesnt look or feel good, either. Theres got to be some effective homeremedies for eczema rather than needing to resort to steroidal creams, though, right? Fortunately, there are some easy steps to take to heal from eczema and remove the horrible itch it can cause. As my article states, it starts with diet and eating both omega-3 foods as well as anti-inflammatory foods toreduce symptoms. Similarly, reduce, eliminate or use grass-fed only dairy products. Lifestyle-wise, reduce the frequency of baths since it can cause the skin to be very dry and itchy.Sleep in long pants to help avoid nighttime scratching.Avoid harsh soaps and detergents by making your own.And hey, get in the sun todetox your body. Direct sunlight on the skin can reduce eczema by increasing production of vitamin D, which improves immunity.Last but not least, make up this homemade eczema cream to keep the skin moisturized with anti-eczema properties. Up your defense against eczema with this cream. A key ingredient … Continue reading

13 Good Foods for Eczema Sufferers – Top Eczema Treatments

Posted: Published on June 16th, 2018

Today I wanted to have a look at13 good foods that can help treat eczema naturally. Eczema, or Atopic Dermatitis, is a condition which causes the skin to become inflamed and irritated. While extremely common in children, still affects around 10% of the adult population totaling over 30 million people in the United States alone. Sadly, the first line of defense when one displays signs of eczema is the prescription of steroid creams. While temporarily helpful, this medication, like all medication, comes with many potential side effects with prolonged use linked to skin atrophy, adrenal suppression, stunted growth, immune suppression, Cushing syndrome, and addiction to name a few. The significant role of diet and health is widely known, however is often overlooked when it comes to naturally treating conditions such as eczema. Please include attribution to http://topeczematreatments.com/ with this graphic. Certified organic food is the term used for the standard of farmed food produced under very strict guidelines. These methods include using only natural substances and other physical or mechanical assistance to raise animals, control weeds and pests, and manage soil quality in the most ethical, natural and healthy way possible. By comparison, non-organic foods can be produced with the … Continue reading

Eczema on face: Best creams and what to avoid

Posted: Published on June 16th, 2018

Our faces are, for most of us, the last place we want to have eczema. It is our most distinguishing body part which we generally spend the most amount of time caring for. We preen it, we nurture it, and we are identified by it. Eczema can occur on any, and sometimes every, part of the body. Unfortunately for many people, the face is the area which seems to attract the worst and prolonged bouts of eczema, bringing misery into the lives of less fortunate sufferers. Creating sometimes disfiguring images of the person who lies underneath, the symptoms can include swollen and crusty eyelids, split mouths, shedding, and burning red skin that could fry an egg. In actual fact, eczema on the face most commonly occurs in infants, and because the majority of people with eczema are under the age of five years old, then eczema on the face is one of the most common areas to present with this unfortunate symptom. Well, the skin on the face is far more sensitive than the rest of the body, and in some places is very thin and prone to faster absorption of toxin and allergen exposure. There are a number of … Continue reading
