TRUE DISCOVERY AWAITS It takes a certain mind to go in search of true discovery. In PET/CT, they are the clinical researchers looking to set new standards of care and the practitioners working to deliver better outcomes for the patients they see every day. They are also the healthcare providers in developing regions looking to invest in their first molecular imaging technology. These are the minds that we collaborate with to come up with meaningful advancements in PET/CT technology. The promise of PET/CT is its ability to provide personalized care. Its high resolution and sensitivity allow it to detect small lesions and quantitative tools make it possible to more accurately monitor cancer therapy. It also has the potential to go beyond oncology with disease-specific tracers for neurology and cardiology. Our goal is to help deliver on the promise of personalized care and to make it accessible to as many people as possible. Accomplishing this goal requires a commitment to innovations that reduce dose and improve quantitation accuracy. It also means taking a comprehensive approach to PET/CT. By providing a complete technology solution from tracer development to systems, we can drive down costs and make it more accessible. It is also … Continue reading

At the Montefiore Einstein Center for Heart and Vascular Care, we realize our patients with cardiovascular disease are eager to return to their lives, families and friends as quickly as possible. Our skilled and experienced cardiologists are committed to the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease through leading, innovative therapies and clinical best practices many of which are offered to our patients before they become generally available at other hospitals and heart centers. Our remarkable team of specialists is dedicated to patients with all stages and types of heart disease, including many who believe they are without options. Our physicians openly and regularly discuss conditions, treatment options and procedure details with our patients and their families. We listen to their concerns and encourage them to ask questions. We have a responsive staff of doctors, nurses and support personnel who are accessible to help patients navigate every step of their journey. InnovationAs the home of the world's first transvenous pacemaker system, Montefiore remains at the forefront of cardiac medicine and surgery. We have received significant research funding from the National Institutes of Health to study the genetics of heart disease, the molecular biology of heart muscle and the causes of heart … Continue reading

Molecular Cardiology Research Lab – Texas Heart Institute

Posted: Published on April 15th, 2018

Texas Heart Institutes Molecular Cardiology Research Laboratory (MCRL) is a unique team of researchers and scientists dedicated to leveraging their expertise in small molecule therapeutics to develop novel techniques to diagnose, treat and prevent cardiovascular disease. Small molecule therapeutics can be applied to various diagnostic and treatment practices used today to enhance how medical practitioners identify and treat patients suffering from heart disease and injury. Specifically, the MCRL team is focused on how applications can help to develop non-invasive imaging techniques to identify atherosclerotic plaques that may rupture or erode and cause heart attack or stroke, as well as applications that will help improve adult stem cell therapies. Their work in the stem cell arena ranges from ways to enhance the efficacy of stem cell therapies to treat heart failure to improvements in stem cell mobilization that will make bone marrow transplants more effective. Additionally, the team is researching the possibility of genetically modified stem cells to treat pulmonary hypertension and peripheral vascular disease, among other indications. Led by esteemed scientist Richard Dixon, PhD, the departments translational research has led to the successful patenting and licensing of new technologies that are not only applicable to enhancing cardiovascular treatments and therapies, … Continue reading
