Video for this article is not available as your browser either does not support JavaScript and/or Flash Player 9+ or they are currently disabled in your browser settings. Prime Minister Julia Gillard says the treatment of Labor backbencher Michelle Rowland makes a 'mockery' of Tony Abbott's commitment to working women. Ms Rowland had sought a 'pair' from the coalition in order to get back to Sydney on Thursday night to be with her ill child. However, when opposition whip Warren Entsch asked for more information it was not provided and the pairing was not granted. The rejection caused uproar in Labor ranks with one MP, Nick Champion, describing it as 'a pretty horrible little act of misogyny'. Ms Gillard didn't go that far when she spoke to reporters after visiting a school in Canberra. 'Can I say very clearly what has happened with this matter makes an absolute mockery of everything the leader of the opposition has ever said about working women,' she said. 'It just shows so clearly that he doesn't get it.' Manager of opposition business Christopher Pyne said Ms Rowland would be granted a pair and that could have happened on Monday morning if the coalition had … Continue reading

FRANKFURT AM MAIN, Germany - Higher prices for its multiple sclerosis treatment helped German pharmaceutical company Merck KGaA post a 54 per cent rise in first-quarter net profit. Merck also saw stronger sales of materials for liquid-crystal displays and raised its profit forecast, saying it would achieve its 2014 goals this year. Its optimism came after it reported net profit of 266 million euros ($345 million) in the first three months of the year, up from 172.7 euros a year earlier. For Johns Hopkins researcher, battling MS is personal
Posted: Published on May 13th, 2013
Anna Whetstone, 23, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when she was 17. She was a high school junior in Hershey, Pa., playing on her school's field hockey team when she got hit in the head with a ball. "I was feeling fine at the time," she said, but over the next few days she had trouble with balance and "wasn't feeling well overall." Computed tomography scans and an MRI discovered the telltale lesions that are signs of the degenerative disease. After the diagnosis, Whetstone switched from playing to coaching field hockey, but she continued dancing and she earned a neuroscience degree, with honors, at Moravian College in Pennsylvania. She moved to Baltimore to accept a job as a clinical research coordinator at the Multiple Sclerosis Center of Johns Hopkins Medicine. Since her diagnosis, her mother and brother have also been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a disease that damages the protective material around nerve cells, blocking messages between the brain and the body. Symptoms can include feelings of weakness, balance problems, numbness and tingling, and difficulty with memory. Whetstone said the causes of MS remain mysterious. That's why research is so important, and why she supported the National Multiple Sclerosis Society … Continue reading

Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) May 10, 2013 According to http://www.SclerosisTreatment.com researchers are looking at MS every conceivable way taught by medicine, and although the FDA has approved several drug-based treatments, there isnt a permanent cure for the condition. The Multiple Sclerosis Treatment by Dr. Gary M. Levin uses a step-by-step method that rehabilitates your immune system and boosts your supporting body systems to rid it of all symptoms. The keys are correct nutrition, healthy diet and potent herbs that empower the impacted immune system to act within normal parameters instead of wreaking havoc. No drug provides a cure for multiple sclerosis so it is important to have a variety of treatment options available for patients. Multiple sclerosis can impair movement, sensation, and thinking and have a profound impact on a persons quality of life, reads a statement by Russell Katz, M.D., director of the Division of Neurology Products in the FDAs Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. With that picture in mind, it is easy to understand why MS patients are appealed by natural treatments for MS, e-books that sell for a tiny fraction of a full-drug therapy that give the patient herbal therapies to manage their condition.
