Posted: Published on February 16th, 2013

Harvesting human stem cells for scientific advancements continues to provoke ethical questions and controversies. However, scientists continue to find new ways to use stem cells derived from fruit and plants in formulating thier skin care products such as found in the Vargas Cosmetics' Tilth Beauty brand. Monroe, CT (PRWEB) February 15, 2013 This plant contains adaptogens which has shown to protect, nurture and heal damaged cells. Dear Religion (an open letter) or Why Adam and Eve it- Cockneycpl's Channel: http://www.youtube.com Original Video: http://www.youtube.com Original Description: "Dear religion, Kindly stop deceiving yourself and others, grow up and take responsibility for your actions, and the actions of what others do in your name. If you want to be taken seriously you would not contradict yourself, and If you want to be believed, you would and should be able to back up your claims with reliable and certifiable evidence. If you want to be thought off as benevolent, why hinder the advancement of treatments that work to cure people? (Like stem cell research). If you want us to be good to everyone why do you have such hate and intolerance to others in your writings. All of you can't all be right as you all claim to be, that leads me to the conclusion that none of you are right. As you built and expanded on from each other's ideas. (If even one thing is in error then your whole premise fails) and I'm looking at you Adam Eve. If you can prove that none of your authors were delusional, and that anything you say … Continue reading

A profoundly conservative figure whose papacy was overshadowed by clerical abuse scandals, the pope, 85, was elected by fellow cardinals in 2005 after the death of his predecessor, John Paul II. After examining his conscience "before God," he said on Monday, "I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise" of his position as head of the world's Roman Catholics. Federico Lombardi, the Vatican spokesman, said Benedict would continue to carry out his papal duties until Feb. 28 and that a successor could probably be elected by Easter which falls this year on March 31. But, he added, that date was "not … Continue reading

Stem Cell Survival Strategy Is Key to Blood and Immune System Health

Posted: Published on February 12th, 2013

Stem cells of the aging bone marrow recycle their own molecules to survive and keep replenishing the blood and immune systems as the body ages, researchers at UC San Francisco (UCSF) have discovered. The recycling process, known as autophagy, or self-eating, involves reusing molecules and the chemical energy obtained from these molecules to withstand the killing effect of metabolic stress that intensifies as the body ages. Emmanuelle Passegu, PhD The discovery, reported online Feb. 6 in the journal Nature, showed that autophagy allows stem cells to avoid the alternative response to stress, which is programmed cellular suicide, in which cells that arent up to snuff kill themselves for the greater good. While this trick of autophagy may help delay the onset of anemia, immune-system failure and other maladies that occur with age, as a survival strategy it is a bit of a compromise, said the senior author of the study, Emmanuelle Passegu, PhD, of the Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regeneration Medicine and Stem Cell Research at UCSF. Autophagy might increase cancer risk, she said, by allowing old stem cells to survive despite having accumulated risky mutations over a lifetime. Almost all blood malignancies start in the stem cell … Continue reading
