The foundation is a non-profit organization established to provide support and education for families affected by autism, as well as other developmental disorders.

This is truly an exciting day for Mindy and I, Dave Rice said. For some time now weve talked about the opportunity that we have to form a foundation to truly make a difference for others.

Rices 9-year-old son Dylan was diagnosed with autism a few years ago. The Rices became discouraged after it took several doctors three years to diagnose Dylans condition.

It took a lot of time and a lot of doctors and assessments to finally get the diagnosis, Mindy said. Just getting to that point to have the diagnosis was extremely frustrating.

When they first learned about Dylans diagnosis, the Rices were unsure of how to go about treatment for him. They were frustrated after receiving several conflicting answers from doctors in Utah while Dave was the assistant basketball coach at BYU.

Our frustrations grew immensely, Mindy said. Our neurologist told us that Dylan had autism. Good luck. And off he sent us, with nothing else.

Left without an answer on how to treat Dylans condition, Mindy spent several hours researching autism and treatments for it. She found out that every children with autism reacts differently to treatments.
