Multiple Sclerosis: Immediate Improvement in Ataxia and Coordination with the BalanceWear Orthosis
Mary was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis nine years ago. Using the BalanceWear strategically-weighted orthosis according to Balance-Based Torso-Weighting (BBTW) she demonstrates immediate improvement in hand and leg coordination when wearing the BalanceWear Orthosis. When we stabilize Mary #39;s torso with the BBTW treatment she has much better control of her arms and legs. A therapy strategy is to improve proximal control allowing distal mobility. While wearing BalanceWear she becomes more independent and her movement requires less concentration. She is visually dependent without this treatment. When she closes her eyes the movement in both her arms and legs get worse. Notice her loss of trunk control when her eyes are closed as she performs the heel shin test. Note the difference with BalanceWear. Her control in the upper and lower extremities are almost identical with eyes open and eyes closed therefore she doesn #39;t require her vision as much with BalanceWear. BalanceWear is easy, just zip it up, put it on, and start moving.From:motiontherapeuticsViews:1172 3ratingsTime:03:34More inScience Technology
