Painting Peace: Former Child Soldiers Paint Peace in Liberia
These young boys were kidnapped, given drugs, and forced to fight in the 14-year civil war. They were compelled to commit the worst atrocities and war crimes known to man. After the war, they were abandoned and rejected. Their generals disappeared, their families rejected them, and society has driven them out. Now, they are homeless and without skills to create a normal life. Painting unlocks their creative intelligence and is the best way for us to better understand what they #39;ve experienced. Imagine what their art could reveal about life and the strength of the human spirit! Our hope is that painting will bring peace and hope to former child soldiers and that the money raised will enable more boys to begin healing through art. After all the rejection they #39;ve faced, this is our opportunity to accept them and support them in creating something that is truly valuable. This may be their only opportunity to express themselves appropriately and begin mending the emotional and psychological damage that has been done. Please back our project so we can support these boys and share their message through art with the world.
