RED BANK, NJ--(Marketwire -02/07/12)- American CryoStem Corporation (OTCQB: CRYO.OB - News) announced today that it has completed providing stem cell processing services for Personal Cell Sciences Corp., a cutting edge manufacturer of anti-aging skin care products. The study involves researching the regenerative function of a conditioned medium obtained from each participant's adipose (fat tissue) derived mesenchymal stem cells and their ability to promote the production or secretion of collagen, elastin and fibronectin related to skin wound healing. John Arnone, CEO of American CryoStem and Founder of Personal Cell Sciences, commented, "CRYO's patented tissue culture media and its proprietary, aseptic adipose tissue processing methodology allows, as an added benefit for PCS customers to store a clinical grade sample of their own stem cells for future use in regenerative medicine. We are pleased to provide comprehensive Bio-Insurance storage solutions at our clinical facility." The adipose tissue samples were acquired utilizing a mini-liposuction procedure. A total of sixty milliliters (approximately 2 fluid ounces) of adipose tissue was collected in the physician's office and sent to CRYO's laboratory for processing. Once processed, the resulting stromal vascular fraction (SVF) was forwarded to the Personal Cell Sciences laboratory for proprietary formulation for patient specific products. "We … Continue reading

SPECIAL REPORT: Stem Cell Solution

Posted: Published on February 7th, 2012

Ask any prospective parent about having a baby and they'll tell you all they want is a healthy baby.  When that doesn't happen, parents and their little one often face a lifetime of challenges.  Dr. Joanne Kurtzberg oversees the Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at Duke University Medical Center. She aims to help these families.  She's a pioneer in cord blood stem cell therapies and currently leads a three year cord blood study to see if children with cerebral palsy can be helped. "We tested cord blood in children with cancer and genetic diseases and serendipitously learned that it also can go to the brain and correct problems in the brain. So then we had the idea that maybe cord blood from the child themselves could repair damage in the brain if the damaged occurred early in life.  And so we treated about 180 children to check and see if cord blood was safe to give to them and they did very well.  And many of the children improved but we couldn't really know if it was because of the cord blood itself,” says Dr. Joanne Kurtzberg.  The result of past stem cell therapy successes under Dr. Kurtzberg’s leadership … Continue reading

Muscle Stem Cells Activated By Exercise

Posted: Published on February 7th, 2012

February 7, 2012 University of Illinois researchers determined that an adult stem cell present in muscle is responsive to exercise, a discovery that may provide a link between exercise and muscle health. The findings could lead to new therapeutic techniques using these cells to rehabilitate injured muscle and prevent or restore muscle loss with age. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in skeletal muscle have been known to be important for muscle repair in response to non-physiological injury, predominantly in response to chemical injections that significantly damage muscle tissue and induce inflammation. The researchers, led by kinesiology and community health professor Marni Boppart, investigated whether MSCs also responded to strain during exercise, and if so, how. “Since exercise can induce some injury as part of the remodeling process following mechanical strain, we wondered if MSC accumulation was a natural response to exercise and whether these cells contributed to the beneficial regeneration and growth process that occurs post-exercise,” said Boppart, who also is affiliated with the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at the U. of I. The researchers found that MSCs in muscle are very responsive to mechanical strain. They witnessed MSC accumulation in muscle of mice after vigorous exercise. Then, … Continue reading

Task force reports record drug bust

Posted: Published on February 7th, 2012

Orleans County's location as a quiet, mostly rural haven sandwiched between two metropolitan areas has long been one of its prime selling points. It's also proving popular among suspected drug dealers. Saturday, police announced the largest heroin seizure recorded in the county when they stopped a Rochester man just east of that city and apparently headed for Orleans County as he returned from New York City with heroin valued at $200,000. He was also in possession of $3,000 in cash. He was charged with four counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. Arcides "Cuba" Dieguez-Castillos, 46, of Frost Avenue, Rochester, who is on parole and is facing felony drug charges in Monroe County, was being held without bail in Orleans County Jail. Also charged and held without bail in the seizure was Antane Seward-Lopez, 21, of Kappel Place, Rochester, who was charged with one count of first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. The arrests came in a week during which Orleans County authorities made more than a dozen arrests related to prescription painkillers and heroin. "Prescription drugs, heroin, they are the same thing. They are opiates," said Orleans County District Attorney Joseph V. Cardone. "The pills are … Continue reading

Cancer Drugs Make Tumors More Aggressive: Infowars Nightly News – Video

21-01-2012 18:06 Guest Mike Adams of NaturalNews.com will discuss breakthrough research that suggests chemotherapy can be more dangerous than helpful, as findings show it can multiply the chances of tumors and the presence of cancer in patients. SL Baker http://www.infowars.com http://www.prisonplanet.tv January 19, 2012 When natural health advocates warn against mainstream medicine's arsenal of weapons used to fight cancer, including chemotherapy and radiation, their concerns often revolve around how these therapies can weaken and damage a person's body in numerous ways. But scientists are finding other reasons to question some of these therapies. It turns out that while chemotherapies may kill or shrink tumors in the short term, they may actually be causing malignancies to grow more deadly in the long term. For example, Natural News previously reported: (www.naturalnews.com that scientists at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Comprehensive Cancer Center and UAB Department of Chemistry are currently investigating the very real possibility that dead cancer cells left over after chemotherapy spark cancer to spread to other parts of the body (metastasis). And now comes news that a little-explored specific cell type, the pericyte, found in what is called themicroenvironmentof a cancerous tumor actually may halt cancer progression and … Continue reading

Posted: Published on February 7th, 2012

POLICE are investigating whether drugs were a factor in a four-car crash involving a pregnant woman and a 15-month-old child in Chelsea. The incident occurred when a red Mazda sedan travelling south on Station St near Embankment Dr veered into oncoming traffic and collided head on with a BMW sedan about 4.40pm on January 28. A Hyundai 4WD driving north crashed into the rear of the BMW and then into a parked Holden Commodore. A pregnant 35-year-old woman, 33-year-old man and a 15-month-old child travelling in the Hyundai, all from Edithvale, were taken to hospital by ambulance but suffered no injuries. The Mazda driver was not injured but was taken to Frankston Hospital for observation, while the two occupants in the BMW were uninjured. Sgt Sven Koernig said police were checking into the state of mind of the Mazda driver during the crash and whether drugs were involved. “We’re investigating all avenues with this incident,” Sgt Koernig said.
