LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) November 10, 2014

The #AutismActofLove Challenge launched today, Nov. 10 and is making its way across the United States, honoring the thousands of families who are struggling to help their children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). All that is needed to take the challenge is a piece of paper, three markers of different colors, a Smartphone or video camera and the participant must either wear a blindfold or close his or her eyes. The challenge consists of recording yourself committing an #AutismActofLove by drawing a picture of something that you love using three different colors. For more information and to make a donation, visit http://www.helpforautism.org. Autism Live, an interactive webshow that provides support, resources and information to the autism community, will host a pledgeathon on Nov. 11 and 12 to raise awareness of the challenge. To participate viewers may visit http://www.autism-live.com.

We are blown away by the support and encouragement everyone has shown to help the many families who are in desperate need, said Nancy Alspaugh-Jackson, executive director of ACT Today!. Our goal is to help as many families as possible.

ACT Today! gives grants to families for equipment, medication, treatment, technology legal help and much more. Donations from the challenge will help families pay for necessary care and treatment such as intensive behavioral therapy, special needs summer camps, augmentative communication devices, vitamins, speech therapy, helmets, special gluten-free diet gift cards and more.

About Autism Care and Treatment Today! (ACT Today!) ACT Today! is a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to raise awareness and provide treatment services and support to families to help their children with autism achieve their full potential. Its goal is to introduce and help facilitate early and on-going treatment by providing the necessary resources (including referrals, funding and guidance) to individuals with autism and their families. Studies demonstrate that early and intense intervention is important when treating individuals with autism, yet sadly very few of the effective treatments are covered by medical insurance and families are often delegated to piece together a treatment program for their child via multiple funding sources. Often, the child with autism must go without vital interventions due to financial restraints. ACT Today! strives to provide necessary services so that each child with autism can reach his or her highest potential. For more information, visit http://www.act-today.org.
