On Wednesday (May 13), an 18-year-old shop assistant allegedly threw her newborn baby from the balcony of her flat here to prevent her parents from finding out she had given birth.

Supt Anbalagan said the teenager admitted she gave birth to the baby girl at around 7am on Wednesday (May 13).

The suspects parents were in Kelantan when the incident occurred, and her two siblings who were staying with her also did not know about it.

He added that an investigation officer, together with the Penang contingent police headquarters forensic team, went to the scene and found the newborn in a backpack on the ground floor behind the block of flats.
