Before she said goodbye, "Grey's Anatomy" actress Sandra Oh said thank you - with champagne. The star ended her 10-season run as Dr. Cristina Yang on the medical drama Thursday night, and while she'd known for months that moment was coming that didn't make it any less bittersweet. So on her last day, she rounded up 250 gifts - "this beautiful champagne in a box, and on it is an anatomical heart and a '10'" - and walked around the set passing them out to each and every recipient personally, she tells The Hollywood Reporter. "It was like, 'Here's my heart in a box for a celebration. Please take it. This is my gift of thanks,'" Oh recalls. "For me ... it was good to have that moment of being able to say goodbye." By the end, Oh says she completely "came apart" and was in tears, but it wasn't "a place of being sad," she clarifies. "It was a place of being tremendously moved. Grey's Anatomy bid a fond and emotional farewell to Sandra Oh during Thursday's season finale as Cristina Yang set off for Zurich to become the hotshot cardiothoracic surgeon she was always meant to be. But it wouldn't be a true Grey's finale without at least one twist before the end. In this case, it initially seemed like Cristina might have been inside the local mall hit by an explosion, which was first deemed a possible terrorist attack but actually turned out to be a gas main that blew up. Fortunately, Cristina survived her tenure at Grey Sloan Memorial, an impressive feat for a doctor who suffered through an ectopic pregnancy, a hospital shooter, floods and more! But it's also a good thing that she didn't go to the mall after all because she can now lend a hand to the overwhelmed doctors of GSM who are dealing with the victims of the explosion. Warning: This article contains spoilers Cristina Yang finally left Seattle for Switzerland but not before some trademark Greys Anatomy operating-room chaos and one final Cristina/Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) dance-off. Thursday nights season finale of ABCs veteran drama sprinkled in a few surprises throughout its hour, leading up to the departure of Dr. Yang, played by original series star Sandra Oh (Dr. Yang), departing Greys after 10 long seasons. And, naturally, Yangs last day on the job was total chaos. A gas-main explosion at a Seattle mall sent dozens of survivors to Seattle Grace with horrific injuries, including blisters caused by dry-cleaning chemicals. Since this is Greys Anatomy where season-finale chaos reigns supreme Yang frantically operated on the injured and almost performed a pediatric heart transplant. Right.
