Anatomy of an Historic Northeast Blizzard – Warming Trend Here – 60F by Sunday? – Minneapolis Star Tribune

Posted: Published on March 14th, 2017

Potentially Historic Blizzard Shuts Down Northeast Meteorologists are prone to pangs of jealousy. You see, we all want the most interesting, peculiar weather to show up over our respective cities. It gives us something to babble about - it makes us feel important. So you can only imagine how much I'd like to be in New York City or Boston today. A late-season blizzard will drop snow at a rate of 2-3 inches/hour with thunder and lightning; winds topping 50 mph creating hour after hour of white-out conditions. The northeast will effectively shut down for the next 48 hours. According to FiveThirtyEight New York has seen only 5 snowstorms of a foot or more in March or April since 1870. California just had the wettest winter in 122 years; now a super-sized blizzard for New England? There's more water in the air - more fuel for blizzards and floods. We've had our (3-inch) drama here at home. Take a mental snapshot of the snow in your yard - it'll be gone within 2 days. 40s return Thursday with 50s early next week. Models suggest a mild, Pacific breeze into late March. Spring won't come as early as 2012, but 2-3 … Continue reading

Anatomy of a North Korean Assassination – Daily Beast

Posted: Published on March 11th, 2017

Put aside for a moment the geopolitical implications. How did the assassins evidently sent by North Koreas Kim Jong Un to murder his half brother get the job done? BANGKOKOne by one, on different flights at different times, four men from North Korea flew into Malaysia over the course of a fortnight in February, coming together finally in a condo apartment on Kuchai Lama Street in a bustling middle-class suburb on the edge of the countrys sprawling capital, Kuala Lumpur. According to multiple reports, after the murder and at the height of the scandal, they huddled frequently with Ri Jong Chol, a 47-year-old North Korean who holds a science degree and who moved to Malaysia in August 2016. Ri worked for an outfit called Tombo Enterprises. According to its website it makes anti-cancer supplements and emphasizes wholesome treatment built around herbal medicines. But Ri may have been more useful to the new arrivals for a particular set of skills: handling and combining the binary components of the deadly nerve agent VX, the weapon of mass destruction that would be used to kill Kim Jong Nam, estranged older half-brother of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. VX, which is outlawed around … Continue reading

Just as you start to imagine the rollicking now being dished out, a child's wail can be heard from behind the wall (O:38in the video). Those kids are suffering for the art they've given us and still Prof Kelly goes on, professional to the end, talking aboutNorth Korea and VX gas and things that surely are not at the forefront of his mind right now. 'Grey's Anatomy' Fans Weren't Pleased With That McDreamy Scene in the Latest Episode: Here's Why – Us Weekly

Posted: Published on March 10th, 2017

Breaking our hearts (again). Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) looked back on the death of Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) on the most recent episode of Greys Anatomy, and not all viewers were delighted to hear his name mentioned. Fans seem to have a love-hate relationship with the show bringing up Derek. On one hand, everybody loves remembering the good ol' days of McDreamys time at Grey Sloan. However, some devotees seem to feel that whenever they are almost over the character's death, series creator Shonda Rhimes decides to make them relive the terrible moment over and over again. Riggs Remembers During the Thursday, February 23, episode, a schizophrenic patient who was missing from her parents for more than a decade was reunited with them at the hospital. The parents even had a funeral for their daughter after she vanished because they assumed she was gone for good. However, rather than empathizing with the parents, Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson) thought they lost faith in finding their child. They gave up on her, Riggs said to Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary). They will never forgive themselves. The ordeal apparently reminded him of fiance Megan Hunt (Bridget Regan), who went missing in a helicopter and … Continue reading

'Grey's Anatomy': Kevin McKidd Wants Cristina Back to 'Shake … – Moviefone

Posted: Published on March 10th, 2017

Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) just got married, but they're already having so many problems in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 that we kinda wish Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) would just step in and shake the whole thing up. Interestingly enough, actor Kevin McKidd seems to want the same thing. Sandra Oh recently talked about returning to "Grey's," giving it a no for now, but leaving the door open for a potential return when the series ends. E! asked McKidd if he keeps in touch with Oh -- who is now co-starring on another ABC show, "American Crime" -- and if he thinks she'd ever come back to "Grey's." Here's what he said: "I'd hope she would come back. Yeah, we do stay in touch, and she's doing really well. I hope she'd come back. It would be really fun to have her character come in and shake things up and see what that would do to Amelia and Owen. Although they seem to have enough problems." Yeah, tonight's (March 9) episode, "Civil War," includes the note that "Amelia finally faces her feelings about Owen." But in the March 23 episode, "Til I Hear It From You," … Continue reading

Anatomy of a Play: Inside Brandon Marshall's versatility – Giants.com (blog)

Posted: Published on March 10th, 2017

Giants.com examines the versatily of Brandon Marshall with a freeze-frame look at some key plays: The Giants signed Brandon Marshall to a contract on Wednesday afternoon, and he will add a dynamic to the receiving corps that is very different than the players already on the roster. >> 5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BRANDON MARSHALL Marshalls numbers were down last year (59 catches, 788 yards, 3 TD), but much of that can be attributed to the injuries he had to fight through and the struggles the Jets had at the quarterback position and on offense. I watched nearly every catch he made last year, and he looks much more like the 2015 version of himself that had 109 catches for 1,502 yards and 14 touchdowns. Here are some examples, including some against two of the best cornerbacks in the league: Richard Sherman and Malcolm Butler The Return of the Back Shoulder Catch Since the departure of Hakeem Nicks, the Giants have had trouble consistently completing back shoulder catches. Brandon Marshall should change that immediately. It is a huge weapon against press man-to-man coverage that could really help the Giants offense. With someone of Marshalls size, it is very … Continue reading
