(This story originally appeared as exclusive content on the Verizon INDYCAR Mobile app. To download the app for smartphones, click here.) AVONDALE, Ariz. At 82, A.J. Foyt's body has literally been beaten beyond his years. The first four-time winner of the Indianapolis 500 has experienced everything from a broken back at a 1964 NASCAR race in Riverside, California, to two badly broken feet and legs in a horrible crash at Road America in a 1990 Indy car race. Foyt retired from racing on pole qualifying day at the 1993 Indianapolis 500, but retirement hasn't been much easier. He was stung more than 200 times from an attack of killer bees in 2005, trapped under an overturned bulldozer on his Texas ranch in 2007 and had knee replacements and a hip replacement. In November 2014, Foyt underwent triple-bypass heart surgery and remained in the hospital for weeks afterward because of complications. Foyt has survived it all but not without a struggle. He now is looking for a fountain of youth and told the Verizon INDYCAR Mobile App that he will undergo stem cell therapy in Cancun, Mexico. They have to cut away some of the tissue from my stomach and it … Continue reading

A.J. Foyt during practice for the 2016 Indianapolis 500. (The Indianapolis Star) Auto racing legend A.J. Foyt is hoping to find thefountain of youth for a body that has taken quite a beating over the years. And like a handful of athletes before him, its a journey that will take him outside the United States. Foyt, 82, told IndyCar.com Saturday during a Verizon IndyCar Series test at Phoenix International Raceway that he plans to undergo stem cell therapy, likely in Cancun, Mexico, with injections into both ankles and shoulders as well as his blood. Foyt suffered a broken back during a NASCAR race in 1964 and broken feet and legs during a 1991 IndyCar crash. In 2005, hewas stung more than 200 times by bees while trapped under his bulldozer at his Texas ranch. Hes had knee and hip replacements, and in 2014 underwent triple-bypass heart surgery. Hes hopeful that stem cell therapy will help heal the lingering effects of some of those ailments. They have to cut away some of the tissue from my stomach and it takes 8-10 weeks for it to grow back to produce the stem cells, Foyt told IndyCar. Ill probably have it done soon … Continue reading

Mesoblast’s cell therapy candidate MPC-300-IV shows positive … – Seeking Alpha

Posted: Published on February 18th, 2017

A Phase 2 clinical trial assessing Mesoblast's (NASDAQ:MESO) allogeneic cell therapy candidate MPC-300-IV in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who have not responded to anti-Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) therapy [e.g., AbbVie's Humira (adalimumab)] showed a durable improvement in symptoms, physical function and disease activity with no safety signals observed. The study enrolled 48 patients with active RA who were on a stable regimen of methotrexate and had an inadequate response to at least one anti-TNF agent. 63% (n=30/48) has received 1 - 2 biologic agents. Participants were randomized to receive a single infusion of 1MMesenchymal Precursor Cells(MPCs)/kg (n=16), 2M MPCs/kg (n=16) or placebo (n=16). The primary study period was 12 weeks and the total study duration was 52 weeks. Both doses of MPC-300-IV outperformed placebo at both week 12 and week 39 as measured by ACR20/50/70 (ACR20 = 20% improvement in RA symptoms). The 2M-cell cohort showed the greatest response. At week 12, for example, 27% of the 2M-cell group achieved ACR70 compared to 0% for placebo. The proportion was 36% in the subgroup (n=11) who had received 1 - 2 biologics. The treatment effect was maintained through week 39. The clinical development of MPC-300-IV is ongoing. Excerpt from: Mesoblast's … Continue reading

Cell-treatment.net is a domain which I- your editor Fas Kuiters- has owned from quite some time. Since 2009 I believe. The primary purpose of ownership of the domain name at the time- and still is- is, to describe the developments in the Regenerative Medicine world, which for me is congruent to the developments in the world of Adult Stem Cell Therapy. The predecessor of Cell-treatment.net was online for about 4 years, until I decided to take the website off-line in 2013, since things did not go very well in the industry and the developments for the core target group, I was aiming at, at the time- patients looking for relief and cures & the general public interested in the plight of those patients- were kind of chaotic in view of regulatory agencies around the world trying to establish their footing with those regulatory frameworks. We are now end July 2016 whilst I write these words and I can see progress and if you like, "light" at the end of the tunnel all across the Globe in respect of those regulatory procedings. Cell therapy – Wikipedia

Posted: Published on October 31st, 2016

Cell therapy (also called cellular therapy or cytotherapy) is therapy in which cellular material is injected into a patient;[1] this generally means intact, living cells. For example, T cells capable of fighting cancer cells via cell-mediated immunity may be injected in the course of immunotherapy. Cell therapy originated in the nineteenth century when scientists experimented by injecting animal material in an attempt to prevent and treat illness.[2] Although such attempts produced no positive benefit, further research found in the mid twentieth century that human cells could be used to help prevent the human body rejecting transplanted organs, leading in time to successful bone marrow transplantation.[3] Today two distinct categories of cell therapy are recognized.[1] The first category is cell therapy in mainstream medicine. This is the subject of intense research and the basis of potential therapeutic benefit.[4] Such research can be controversial when it involves human embryonic material. The second category is in alternative medicine, and perpetuates the practice of injecting animal materials in an attempt to cure disease. This practice, according to the American Cancer Society, is not backed by any medical evidence of effectiveness, and can have deadly consequences.[1] Cell therapy can be defined as therapy in which … Continue reading

Hematology Erythrocytesare also known as red blood cells which carry oxygen to the body and collect carbon dioxide from the body by the use of hemoglobin and its life span of 120 days. along the side the leucocytes helps in protecting the healthy cells because the W.B.C (leucocytes) act as the defending cells in protecting the immune system from the foreign cells. Theseleucocytesare multipotent cells in bone marrow and there life span is of 3-4 days where the yellow blood cells are called as thrombocytes they are where small and irregular in shape they have life span of 5-9 days they are mostly seen in mammals they help in clotting of blood which are in fibrin form called as thrombosis these lead to heart stroke, blockage of blood in blood mostly in arms and legs. where C.B.C is known ascomplete blood countis done to know the number of cells in a body these are mainly done by lab technician presently they are been tested by automatic analyzer the high and … Continue reading
