Celesio sells Irish pharmaceutical wholesale subsidiary to Uniphar

* Divestment programme concluded faster than planned

Stuttgart, Germany / Dublin, Ireland, 14 November 2012. Celesio sells its Irish pharmaceutical wholesale subsidiary Cahill May Roberts Ltd (including Movianto Ireland) to Uniphar, an Irish pharmaceutical wholesale and logistics company, headquartered in Dublin. The sales price amounts to 49.9 million euro. The transaction is subject to the approval of the relevant bodies.

Celesio CEO Markus Pinger: We will now focus on the Irish pharmacy sector. With more than 70 pharmacies we have a strong market position which offers us good growth opportunities. Therefore, the sale of our Irish wholesale subsidiary was a logical consequence. At the same time, we have thus successfully concluded our divestment programme, faster than planned. We will now focus even more on the future growth projects in context with our strategic realignment.

In addition to Cahill May Roberts, Celesios divestment programme, which was started in 2012, included the already completed sales of Movianto (excluding Movianto Ireland), Pharmexx, the mail-order pharmacy DocMorris as well as the activities in the Czech Republic.
