Just before the big break up, Drogheda Institute of Further Education Level 6 Culinary Arts students held an afternoon tea, with all proceeds going to Acquired Brain Injury Ireland.

One of their very own students in the Culinary Arts course, Denise Sullivan, has had her fair share of brain related illnesses. Denise is near the end of her two year Culinary Arts course in Drogheda Institute, two decades on from a massive stroke. In fact, Denise has suffered a stroke, brain haemorrhage, had four brain aneurysms and had a brain tumour and radiation treatment for AVMs over the past number of years.

In recognition of Denise's achievements, the Culinary Arts students decided organise and host an afternoon tea in the college.

The students worked extremely hard on making sure that local and large companies helped them through sponsorship and donations for which they are extremely grateful.

A lot of artistic flare was evident throughout the preparation and setup of the afternoon tea. A big thanks to Oisin O'Byrne in the Art Department who designed a fabulous fireplace for the occasion. Also, thanks to the woodwork department which created the wooden boards that added a sense of elegance and contemporary style to the event.

The Acquired Brain Injury charity attended on the day. A huge thanks to all who attended the event. DIFE raised 1,024 in total for this charity.

The Culinary Arts students both Level 5 and 6 worked extremely hard in the lead up to this event. Level 6 dished up the culinary delights and level 5 students served the afternoon tea. Thanks to David O' Brien and Yvonne Wynne, Culinary art teachers who made this event run efficiently and the students whose dedication was evident throughout. This was definitely the DIFE event of the year for the Culinary Arts Department.
