Water is a factor in most human illness reports Gerald Pollack, PhD, Professor of Bioengineering at University of Washington. While most people are aware that many diseases will cause the body to become dehydrated, Pollack goes one step farther. Recent research by Pollack suggests that the presence of disease can actually change the basic molecular structure of the water contained within each of the bodys estimated 50 trillion cells. According to Pollack, this has profound implications for our understanding of illness.

Pollack made his comments during a guest appearance on the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water syndicated radio show on Voice America, while being interviewed by Sharon Kleyne on the live show of May 5, 2014.

Gerald Pollack, PhD, is a Professor of Bioengineering at the University of Washington. Dr. Pollacks research focus is the physical make-up of water, and waters utilization by the human body. His latest book is The Fourth Phase of Water (Ebner & Sons, 2013).

The globally syndicated Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water radio show, with host Sharon Kleyne, is heard on VoiceAmerica and Apple iTunes. Kleyne is Founder of Bio Logic Aqua Research, a water and health research and product development center. Natures Tears EyeMist, a 100% pure water mist, is the Research Centers global signature product for dry eyes.

Dr. Pollack is best known as the discoverer of Fourth Phase Water or structured water, in addition to waters solid, liquid and vapor phases. The fourth phase is midway between ice and liquid in which there is organized molecular structure but the water remains warm and liquid. The very thin layer of water that clings to the surfaces of other substances is Fourth Phase Water. Dr. Pollack believes that the water inside our body cells is also mostly Fourth Phase Water

Most medical literature estimates the water volume of the human body at 60% to 70%. According to Pollack, this estimate includes only free and semi-bound water. When the total number of water molecules within the body are included, the percentage grown to 99%.

Water is integral to nearly every function of the body, says Pollack, from cell division to muscle contraction to nerve conductivity. Dr. Pollack hypothesizes that most of the water inside human body cells is Fourth Phase Water, which he believes has a molecular structure of H3O2 rather than H2O. Dr. Pollack also theorizes that water has the ability to move back and forth from one phase to the other depending on outside influences.

Kleyne and Pollack agree that disease is frequently accompanied by dehydration and that dehydration grows more prevalent the older or sicker one becomes. Dr. Pollack has concluded that the presence of disease also causes some of the water our body cells to change from Fourth Phase Water back to regular liquid water. Since cells appear to depend on Fourth Phase Water for optimal functioning, this change can be a serious health threat.

Pollack bases this conclusion on the discovery that while most liquid water is neutrally charged, Fourth Phase Water is negatively charged. Pollack has evidence indicating that healthy human tend to have a stronger negative charge than unhealthy humans. This could be the result of a greater percentage of negatively charged Fourth Phase Water in healthy humans.
