Denver, CO (PRWEB) April 23, 2013

The DrugRisk center was created to provide those using popular medication devices, such as IUD contraceptives, with the latest safety alerts, recalls, studies and legal news. Patients can determine if others are experiencing similar side effects and decide if they need legal advice.

The resource center recently added a study published by the Journal of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons which cautions patients about the migration and perforation of Mirena IUDs after implantation*.

Also, DrugRisk contains a study from the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology which highlights the risks for women who must undergo surgery to remove an IUD like Mirena after the devices dislodge and perforate into the abdominal cavity**.

Due to the growing number of patients filing a Mirena lawsuit, the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation issued a Transfer Order on April 8, centralizing all cases filed in the Mirena MDL to the Southern District of New York (In Re: Mirena IUD Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2434).

Now, DrugRisk reports the court has issued the first case management order in the combined litigation setting an initial conference for May 17th at 10:30 a.m., and requiring counsel to file Position Statements no later than May 11, 2013.

The DrugRisk center believes the federal MDL court may benefit patients alleging injury from the devices by centralizing and expediting the legal process.

Anyone who suffered perforation or required surgery while using a Mirena IUD is urged to speak with a lawyer about their legal rights. Due to the specialized nature of federal MDL drug injury cases, DrugRisk only recommends lawyers who are already handling Mirena lawsuits.
