A GRAN slammed a"filthy"McDonald's restaurant after overflowing bins sticky floors and a bad smell left the family fuming.

Jackie, from Livingston, West Lothian, took her 10-year-old granddaughter to their local Almondvale Avenue branch of the Golden Arches for a treat on Wednesday night.

But the disabled grandmother said she was shocked and appalled by the mess - and the smell - of the restaurant.

She blamed overflowing bins for the rancid stench, with empty wrappers and containers littered on the seating area floor.

Jackie also claimed staff were too concerned with preparing JustEat delivery driver orders to attend to the carnage in-house.

She told Edinburgh Live she would "never eat at the restaurant again" after the dining experience left her feeling "disgusted."

Jackie said: "It was absolutely disgusting, every table had trays, food and spilt drinks over them and that was at 7.30pm last night.

We couldn't stand the smell, I had taken my granddaughter to the Playhouse and this was a treat for her before dropping her home.

"She's only 10, when we sat down we hadn't seen the bins yet as they weren't visible from where we ordered on the screen.

And Jackie said it was impossible to find an assessible seat due to the mess.

She added: "I also have cerebral palsy and use a walker so had to sit where was accessible for me."

Branch regulars agreed with Jackie's scathing assessment of the food vendor.

One said: "Last time I was in there one of the girls were messing about with the spoons for McFlurrys putting them on a coworker's ears and face and then put them in to someone's food, haven't been back in since."

Another wrote: "The toilets, I literally had to hover to go.

"Every inch of the place is bogging.

"Wipe your feet on the way out.

"Staff should be ashamed, and clearly management are needing there heads wobbled."

A third added: "Went once early morning for a coffee, every single table had food wrapping or ketchup spelt all over."

A spokesperson for McDonalds said: We are sorry to hear about this customers experience.

"At McDonalds, we pride ourselves on stringent hygiene and cleanliness standards with procedures in place to ensure restaurants are clean and tidy throughout the day.

"On this occasion, we have fallen short of our usual high standards and will review ways in which to address this. We would encourage the customer to contact our Customer Services team.
