FirstHealth, Pinehurst Medical Enter New Cardiology Partnership – Southern Pines Pilot

FirstHealth of the Carolinas and Pinehurst Medical Clinic Inc. have embarked on a new partnership to provide cardiac services to residents of the Sandhills region.

The new affiliation, based on a professional services agreement (PSA) signed on June 1, is called FirstHealth Cardiology-Pinehurst Medical Clinic and affects Pinehurst Medicals cardiology locations in both Pinehurst and Sanford.

With a few exceptions, the agreement with Pinehurst Medical Clinics cardiac specialists is similar to a partnership that FirstHealth has had for many years with Pinehurst Medical Clinics medical oncologists at the FirstHealth Outpatient Cancer Center.

The administrations of both organizations agree that the new cardiology relationship will strengthen the areas delivery of high-quality care while guaranteeing a seamless transition.

Our same group of specialty-trained providers will continue to provide their professional and technical services in their familiar locations in Pinehurst and Sanford, says Pinehurst Medical Clinic CEO Jim Faircloth. Patients will see no difference in the delivery of the high-quality care to which they have long become accustomed.

This agreement helps strengthen our longstanding partnership with Pinehurst Medical Clinic and helps ensure that health care stays local in this community, says David J. Kilarski, CEO of FirstHealth of the Carolinas. Through this collaboration, Pinehurst Medical Clinic and FirstHealth join forces to increase access and provide continuity of care between the two organizations.

According to Dr. Dan Barnes, president of FirstHealth Physician Group, FirstHealth and Pinehurst Medical have worked together for many years on many projects.

This new affiliation is a further demonstration of both FirstHealths and Pinehurst Medical Clinics commitment to continued growth and excellence of the physicians and advanced medical providers serving our communities, he says.

The 12 physicians (interventional and invasive cardiologists and electrophysiologists), a physician assistant and a family nurse practitioner affiliated with Pinehurst Medical Clinic provide services at 205 Page Road in Pinehurst and at 110 Fields Drive in Sanford.
