Latin: When Luis Fonsi released his 2017 single Despacito, it became a hit song and an internet meme. Many people uploaded their covers of the Latin pop song, along with many parodies of it. But like J. Balvins Mi Gente, the song was instrumental in taking Spanish language music into the American mainstream.

He released his new album Vida in February, and it has sold over 1 million copies in the United States. The single chame la Culpa, recorded with Demi Lovato, was also a hit.

Hes won five Latin Grammy Awards and has been nominated for four Grammy Awards. In 2009, he performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway and performed at the opening ceremonies at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.

Boy band: During the 90s, boy bands took over the mainstream music scene and crankedout the hits. One of those bands was 98 Degrees. Vocalist Nick Lachey is remembered for his marriage to Jessica Simpson. The couple wasfeatured on the MTV reality show, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, which was one of the first celebrity television shows.

Lo-fi: In the modern era of rock music, there are few artists who are pushing creativity to new levels, and one of them is Ariel Pink with his lo-fi recordings that sound like a split between The Cure and Neil Young. In 2017, he released his album Dedicated to Bobby Jameson. The title was in tribute to 60s folk singer, Bobby Jameson, who disappeared from the music industry after failing to find success. The album was hailed as one of the best albums of 2017 by critics and fans.
