Correctional Health Services works closely with the Sheriff #39;s Department who provide a safe, secure and clean working environment. The jails and clinics are state of the art facilities and are well-equipped. Correctional Health Services operates 7 out patient clinics, a 260-bed in-patient psychiatric unit and a 60-bed in-patient infirmary with in the walls of the Maricopa County Jails. Inmates have a constitutional right to receive medical services and those services have expanded over the years since the first ruling in the 1970 #39;s. Medical Mental Health Services as well as Dental, x-ray and pharmacy services are provided. Correctional Health Services staff MD #39;s, DO #39;s, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Mental Health Professionals, Dentists, Dental Assistants, RN #39;s, LPN #39;s and Medical Assistants and a variety of support staff. Healthcare delivery in a correctional setting is new and challenging everyday.
