Meridian Health Plan Announces New Pharmacy Benefit Manager

CHICAGO, March 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Meridian Health Plan is pleased to welcome MeridianRx as its new Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM).

Effective April 1, MeridianRx will handle the processing and payment of prescription drug claims for the Medicaid managed care plan. Currently, the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) provides pharmacy services for Medicaid beneficiaries. HFS decided to move pharmacy benefits to managed care plans in an effort to improve coordination of care and health outcomes.
