Navajo Nation police say 7- and 14-year-old sisters have been missing since Sunday – The Arizona Republic

The Navajo Police Department on Tuesday announced they were searching for 7-year-old and 14-year-old sisters who went missing from Fort Defiance on Sunday.

Jayda John and Jaylee Spencer on Nov. 21 were given permission by their mother to stay with their uncle in Fort Defiance, which is on the Navajo Nation about five miles north of Window Rock.

Their uncle the next day was hauling wood away from the home. When he returned, his two nieces, his girlfriendKristy Marie Pinal, her three-month-old child and his car were missing, the department said in a Facebook post.

Pinal later contacted the girls' mother to say theywere at her parents' home in Whiteriver and she would return the children that night, the post said.

They were instead reported missing on Monday. The Navajo Nation at about 4 p.m. Tuesdaysent out a text alert about the missing sisters.

John, 7, was described by police as 4 feet tall and 50 pounds whileSpencer, 14, was described as 5 feet and 4 inches tall and 130 pounds. They both have black hair and brown eyes, according to police.

Spencer also has Eczema on both her arms, police said.

Pinal, 29, was believed to be driving a green 1998 Saturn SL1 four-door sedan with Arizona license plate BLE8163. She was described by police as 5 feet 2 inches tall and 120 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
