Noted Cardiologist Joins Central Carolina Hospital – The Daily Record (registration)

Central Carolina Hospital announced that Dr. Ashwani Ash Sastry has joined its staff and will offer cardiology services to patients throughout Sanford. Dr. Sastry brings prestigious clinical experience to Central Carolina Hospital and is the first cardiologist to join Central Carolina Cardiology, a Duke LifePoint Practice opening May 8.

Dr. Sastry has years of experience in treating a range of complex heart conditions, including all aspects of cardiology and vascular medicine. He is an excellent addition to our hospital team, said John Maxwell, CEO of Central Carolina Hospital. Heart disease is an increasing concern in our area, and Dr. Sastrys expertise will be important as Central Carolina Hospital strives to meet our regions evolving health care needs and make our community healthier. Dr. Sastry joins Central Carolina Hospital from Duke University Medical Center. Previously, he worked at Bassett Medical Center, where he was the attending physician in Interventional Cardiology and Vascular Medicine. Before Bassett, he was the attending physician and co-founder of Cardiovascular Solutions of Mississippi. He was also the instructor in Clinical Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center.

Dr. Sastry has full clinical privileges at Central Carolina Hospital and Duke University Medical Center.
