CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. - Christian Heavner got the VIP treatment Tuesday from his Northwest Cabarrus High School classmates that included music from the band, a stretch limo, police escort and more, and this was all to celebrate a sports trip of a lifetime.

He's a very good, bright young man, Heavners stepfather, John Basile, said. This is something that he's very deserving of.

Heavner, a senior, is living with cerebral palsy and is an inspiration to everyone around him.

A group of students called the Junior Dream team raised almost $10,000 so he could see one of his favorite sports teams, and they wanted to give him a big send-off to New York City to watch the New York Yankees and meet his favorite players.

Heavner also loves the Carolina Panthers so he was ecstatic when safety Kurt Coleman stopped by with another gift.

This is my shirt and I signed it, and I want you to know you're amazing every single day, Coleman told Heavner.

The sports fanatic was overwhelmed that his classmates would do this for him.

Thank you to all of the dream team, Heavner said. We have the best school in the state of North Carolina.

He got another surprise before his flight to New York, a helicopter ride from school to the airport.

Heavner and his family will be attending two Yankees games while in the Big Apple.
