Christopher M. Kramer, MD, FACC, received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his medical degree from the University of California San Francisco, after which he completed residency and chief residency in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiology at the University of Pennsylvania. His first faculty appointment was at Allegheny General Hospital, Medical College of Pennsylvania Hahnemann School of Medicine where he directed the cardiology fellowship program. Read More >>>

In 1999, Kramer moved to the University of Virginia where he currently serves as the Ruth C. Heede professor of cardiology, professor of radiology, and director of the cardiovascular imaging center. Kramers principal research interest has been in the application of cardiovascular magnetic resonance to the cardiovascular system. He is co-principal investigator of a 2,750 patient, 44-site, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute-funded U01 international registry study of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, an R01 in peripheral arterial disease, and a T32 in cardiovascular imaging. Kramer is a past president and Gold Medal awardee of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, past chair of ACCs Imaging Section and vice chair of ACCs appropriate use task force, as well as past member and chair of the clinical and integrative cardiovascular sciences National Institutes of Health study section. Kramer is presently deputy editor of JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging, associate editor of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and a member of the editorial boards of Circulation, Circulation CV Imaging, Journal of the American Heart Association, Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, ACCEL, and Vascular Medicine. He is also a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the Association of University Cardiologists.
