According to Dr. Lopez-Jimenez, performing HIIT exercises for 30 minutes provide patients with more benefits compared to an hour or two of brisk walking. While he did not eliminate brisk walking as one of the exercises that can provide good benefits to the heart, performing HIIT exercises at half the time also gives the same amount of benefits.

Performing bursts of HIIT exercises, coupled with periodic slowing down intervals, can improve the patients metabolism. It can also help them gain longer diabetic control during the entire day. HIIT exercises also provide huge benefits to those who have difficulty in losing weight as this activity can help boost their metabolism.

For those who have knee or joint problems, other forms of exercise can otherwise match the results provided by HIIT. One of these activities is swimming. Even if patients have knee or other joint problems, they can perform this activity without great difficulty. Best of all, the harder they push themselves when swimming, the more resistance they will develop against many forms of ailments, particularly heart disease.
