Bernie Sanders said Tuesday that he plans to change the nature of his campaign by scaling back the number of rallies after suffering a heart attack last week.

Sanders made the statement to reporters from outside his Burlington, Vermont, homeafter a recent visit with his cardiologist.

I think were going to change the nature of the campaign a bit, Sanders said. Make sure that I have the strength to do what I have to do.

Sanders said he plans to hold less than four rallies a day as he was doing in the lead-up to his heart attack.

But he added he intends to be actively campaigning in the Democratic primary race.

Last Friday, doctors who treated the democratic socialist senator from Vermont revealed he suffered a heart attack when he was admitted to a Las Vegas hospital last week.

The two doctors, Arturo E. Marchand Jr. and Arjun Gururaj, said in a statement that Sanders was treated for myocardial infarction another name for a heart attack when he was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday.
