ROGERS-- A group of Arkansans are taking steps against certain digestive diseases.

The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation hosted a walk Saturday morning in Rogers to spread awareness and raise funds for the cause.

Brittainy Silvey suffers from Ulcerative Colitis. She is this year's local honored hero.

"It's important to me not only because I have Ulcerative Colitis, and I've had it for the past 15 years, but there's a genetic component to it, and I have a son. And so, I feel like I'm kind of a lost cause already, but if he's ever diagnosed, I wanna know that I've done everything I can to find a cure for him." Said Brittainy Silvey, suffers from Ulcerative Colitis.

The group is just over the half way mark to their December goal of $50,000.

All the money they raise will help send kids with digestive diseases to camp.
