A caregiver who used to work for United Cerebral Palsy of Greater New Orleans has been arrested for allegedly physically and sexually abusing a man he was tasked to care for.

39-year-old Patrick Bowden was arrested on Monday, May 18, and charged with two misdemeanor counts of simple battery of the infirm.

The alleged victims mother, Valerie Williams, had an in-house surveillance camera which police said show Bowden punching her son in the head, elbowing him, and placing a cloth over his mouth.

Upon further review, footage from this camera reportedly showed that Bowden abused the disabled man on a daily basis and that some of the abuse was sexual.

Bowden was arrested a second time on Wednesday, May 20, and charged with 10 counts of felony cruelty to the infirm.

The alleged victim, 26-year-old Jeffery Williams, suffered a broken arm during Bowdens overnight shift on Monday. Valerie Williams checked the camera footage after noticing that her sons arm was swelling.

Kenner police are planning to review all of the surveillance video provided to them by Valerie Williams.
