Board certified plastic surgeons from the U.S. and throughout the world convene at Buckheads Intercontinental Hotel to demonstrate the worlds latest techniques and present worldwide trending panels and topics in cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery.

Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) January 20, 2015

Northside Hospital and The Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (SESPRS) are hosting the 31st Annual Breast Surgery Symposium on January 23rd through 25th, 2015, at Buckheads Intercontinental Hotel. Since the conferences original founding by Dr. Carl Hartrampf over 30 years ago, The Atlanta Breast Symposium has grown to include nearly 500 registrants from 15 countries and has become internationally synonymous with innovations in reconstructive and cosmetic breast surgery. This year, two of the surgeons from Atlanta Plastic Surgery, PC, symposium co-chair James Namnoum, M.D. and emeritus chair L. Franklyn Elliott, M.D., will be integral parts of the three-day scientific program.

This years meeting will feature presentations on global advances in plastic surgery of the breast in a scientific program entitled Simplifying Safety and Outcomes. The Atlanta Breast Surgery Symposiums agenda will begin with live demonstrations of the most advanced surgical techniques transmitted from Northside Hospital to meeting attendees at the Intercontinental Hotel. The 2015 live surgery telecasts, one of which will be conducted by Dr. Namnoum, will feature breast reconstruction and augmentation procedures using new technological innovations in synthetic mesh, implants, and fat grafting. The symposium will feature comprehensive panels discussing fat grafting and the use of acellular dermal matrices or new synthetic substitutes to reduce breast surgery complications while exploring current trends and techniques in mastectomy, oncoplastic surgery and breast reconstruction.

The 2015 event will be an opportunity to collaborate with the best and the brightest about the most advanced techniques, such as direct to implant reconstruction, TRAM flaps, latissimus flaps, and microsurgical SIEA and DIEP flaps, shares Dr. Namnoum. These surgeons and cases will demonstrate a number of innovative techniques used by the most outstanding leaders in breast surgery and we are honored to be a part of such a collaborative initiative to improve quality of care for patients around the world.

New to this years symposium will be on-line streaming video, allowing the live surgical demonstrations and lectures to be viewed in their entirety from the convenience of a home or office computer. Additionally, live questions can be emailed from around the world to Atlanta for immediate answers from the faculty directly over the Internet. The media may also set up interviews with the symposiums chairpersons and faculty to learn more about featured content and technology discussed throughout the symposium.

During last years symposium, Dr. Franklyn Elliott was a featured lecturer celebrating Dr. Hartrampfs legacy and reflecting on medical advancements made in cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery. In keeping with this years theme of "Simplifying Safety and Outcomes, Dr. Elliott, an acknowledged expert in the field, will evaluate a variety of techniques used in aesthetic breast surgery, including breast reduction, mastopexy, and the prevention and correction of complications as well as improved pain control with new forms of anesthesia.

"After 30 years, the Atlanta Breast Surgery Symposium remains the leading plastic surgical meeting devoted to breast care in the world. The combination of live surgical demonstrations of the most challenging and innovative new procedures with the performance of more standard approaches that continue to be perfected year by year gives attendees an opportunity to refine their techniques on evolving standard procedures as well as stay current on the most advanced and innovative techniques, explains Elliott. The live surgical portion of this meeting is its heart - beginning with the first symposia wherein Dr. Hartrampf first demonstrated his revolutionary TRAM procedure, which is still used today."
