The unmistakable anatomy of a President Trump flip-flop – Washington Post

Posted: Published on April 19th, 2017

President Trump took to Fox News onTuesday morning to defend his flip-flop on labeling China a currency manipulator. And what we got was a perfect little illustration of a president who believes his campaign-trail promises mean basically nothing. Here's the exchange with Fox and Friends host Ainsley Earhardt: TRUMP: Somebody said Currency manipulation. What am I going to do? In the middle of him talking with North Korea, Im going to hit them with currency manipulation? This is the fake media that just does a number. Think of it: Hes working so nicely, many coal ships have been sent back, fuel has been sent back, theyre not dealing the same way. Nobodys ever seen it like that. Nobodys ever seen such a positive response on our behalf from China, and then the fake media goes, Donald Trump has changed his stance on China. I havent changed my stance. Chinas trying to help us. I don't know if they are going to be able to or not, but do I want to start heavy, heavy trade or currency manipulation statements against someone who's out there trying to stop what could be a very bad situation? You understand that. EARHARDT:I understand that. … Continue reading

Anatomy of a Goal: Ola Kamara's Equalizer – Massive Report – Massive Report

Posted: Published on April 18th, 2017

Welcome to the Anatomy of a Goal, where each week we dissect one goal (or near goal) from the previous weeks Columbus Crew SC match. For Week 7 on the 2017 MLS Season, we take a look at Ola Kamaras 37th minute tap-in goal that put Crew SC level with Toronto FC at 1-1, as part of the 2-1 win on Saturday. Heres a look at the finish from the Columbus striker. In the 20th minute, Jozy Altidore put Toronto in the lead with a headed goal off a Victor Vazquez corner kick. Toronto controlled much of the first 37 minutes, but Columbus begun to settle down and get back into this match. Kamaras equalizing goal begins with a TFC throw in. Toronto left center-back Justin Morrow had three options in the above photo: center midfielder Michael Bradley, left midfielder Raheem Edwards, and center midfielder Armando Cooper. An unmarked Bradley was probably the best option, but Morrow instead opted to make a short throw to Cooper. Morrows throw barely reached Cooper, who was easily dispossessed by Crew SC winger Niko Hansen. Above, notice that Crew SC attacking midfielder Federico Higuain is moving ahead of Morrow even before Hansen receives the … Continue reading

Anatomy of a Disney musical: Composer reveals process of creating iconic songs – ABC Online

Posted: Published on April 18th, 2017

Posted April 17, 2017 14:25:39 You probably don't know Alan Menken's name, but you do know his songs. The acclaimed composer and songwriter is the hidden face behind some of Disney's most iconic musicals, including Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Aladdin. His body of work has earned him eight Oscars and 16 Golden Globes, and he's not done yet. Mr Menken is currently in Australia for the premiere of the stage musical of Aladdin and will head home soon to work on the upcoming live action film version of the story. So how does he create a Disney song? And what is the process for bringing a fledgling idea all the way to the big screen? The first thing to know is that for most Disney animations the musical dramatists aka the songwriters are brought in by the studio first. "That's something people don't know," Mr Menken told ABC News Breakfast. "Disney will say, 'We want to tell this story' and then we say, 'OK, how do we do it?'. "Generally you go from the basic story, to the basic structure of telling the story, to what musical style you're going to use to tell the story … Continue reading

Aspiring docs from HCI win big at Anatomy Challenge – The Straits Times

Posted: Published on April 16th, 2017

The young, aspiring doctors peered, prodded and scratched their heads over questions about the human body. In the end, a four-member team from Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) emerged winners at the Anatomy Challenge yesterday. It is the first inter-school medical competition organised by Nanyang Technological University. Aside from medical-themed quizzes, students from 39 pre-university schools also had the chance to inspect plastinated specimens of human bodies. The champion team was led by student Cheong Jia Sheng, 17. He said: "I became interested in medicine after my parents bought me an anatomy book when I was in Secondary 3. "I can't believe we won. My parents will be overjoyed." His teammate Cindy Ow, 18, said the group met three times a week to prepare for the competition. She said: "Each meeting lasted about three hours. Our seniors who were from HCI but are now studying medicine at the National University of Singapore also came down to help us. "They really helped us prepare for the Anatomy Challenge." The top team won prizes such as a trophy and $400 in cash. Another team from the same school also came in second. The runners-up received prizes which included $300 in cash. Organised by … Continue reading

Eden Hazard and Jos Mourinho: anatomy of a rollercoaster relationship – The Guardian

Posted: Published on April 15th, 2017

Eden Hazard was in imperious form when Chelsea and Manchester United met in the Premier League in October. Photograph: Catherine Ivill - AMA/Getty Images Fans, content with a perfunctory victory, were beginning to drift away from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea were leading Porto 2-0, having been in control for most of the game. In a turbulent season, the Champions League had again provided a pocket of calm. And then Jos Mourinho decided to take off Eden Hazard, who had been involved in the buildup to both Chelsea goals. It had probably been Hazards best performance of the season to that point and he left the pitch to warm applause. He slapped hands with Loc Rmy but then, as Mourinho went to congratulate him, Hazard shrugged him off. It is easy, of course, to read too much into individual moments in retrospect but even at the time that felt telling. To show such obvious disdain for your manager in the moment of victory exposed the palpable discord that existed within the squad a week before Michael Emenalo, the Chelsea technical director, spoke of it in the wake of Mourinhos sacking. From that moment, it felt that Mourinho was doomed, that, even with … Continue reading
