Cardiologist Joins Carle Richland Memorial Hospital Cardiology services are now available full-time at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney with the addition of a new, full-time Cardiologist. Dr. Prem Ghai with the Carle Heart and Vascular Institute began his practice this month in the new Cardiology Clinic, which is located on the first floor of the hospital near the gazebo garden entrance on the West side of the campus. Dr. Ghai is making his home in Olney and looks forward to expanding access to care for people with heart conditions. Sometimes in rural areas people dont always go to the doctor when they need to, because they have to travel out of town for certain specialty care, Dr. Ghai said. I want to improve on that by providing a full range of services for them closer to home. With more than twentyfive years of experience as a Cardiologist, Dr. Ghai provides a full range of services. He is Board Certified in both Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology. In addition to clinic hours, Dr. Ghai provides consultations for hospital inpatients and Emergency Department patients. BOSTON: Professor Shahbuddin Rahimtoola was presented with the Distinguished Fellowship Award at the 21st World Congress of the International Academy of Cardiology held at Boston. Founder and Chairman of the IAC Dr. Asher Kimchi, together with Co-Chairmen Dr. Jeffrey S. Borer and Dr. John A. Elefteriades, headed a committee comprised of 225 of the worlds leading cardiologists and scientists that reviewed a prestigious list of nominees and voted for their top choice. The other two recipients of the award on the occasion were Charles H. Hennekens [Sir Richard Doll Professor, Florida Atlantic University] and Nanette K. Wenger [Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) Emeritus, Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta]. Dr Rahimtoola currently serves as Distinguished Professor at University of Southern California and is the Griffith Professor of Cardiology. Shahbuddin Rahimtoolas specialties include cardiovascular disease, valvular heart disease and coronary artery disease. Arrested former Calcutta High Court judge CS Karnan was today admitted to a state-run hospital here after he complained of uneasiness. He was admitted to the cardiology department after a team of five cardiologists at the SSKM hospital conducted tests on and advised admission since some results were not normal, sources in the Presidency Correctional Home (jail) told PTI. "He was taken to the state-run SSKM hospital today after be complained of uneasiness and cardiologists conducted various tests including blood tests on him. Going through their findings, he has been admitted at the cardiology department," an official said. Besides, ECG, echocardiography, chest X-ray and other tests, including blood tests were done on the former high court judge and some results showed abnormalities, he said. "Karnan complained that he felt uncomfortable and had very little breakfast today. We then took him for a check-up to the SSKM hospital," the officer said. The former judge was taken to the SSKM hospital last night also after he complained of chest pain, but nothing abnormal was found in his medical report, he said. Medical City Dallas is teaming up with Greenville-based Hunt Regional Healthcare, a full-service hospital, to provide interventional cardiology services to Greenville and Northeast Dallas communities. A cardiac catheterization lab was opened June 15 and will be jointly operated. The partnership aims to provide Hunt Regional patients with comprehensive cardiac care that can be accessed 24/7. Before the lab opened, Hunt Regional patients suffering from cardiac emergencies would travel to Medical City Dallas for heart and cardiovascular procedures, stents, and other medical services. Medical City Dallas interventional cardiologists Drs. Ahad Hassan and Roger Belbel will lead the cardiac catheterization labs operations. Their team will include Hunt Regional and Medical City Dallas registered nurses and diagnostic imaging technicians. Michael Joseph Ryan Jr., 75, formerly of St. Davids, a Main Line cardiologist, died Tuesday, June 6, of complications from cancer at Bryn Mawr Hospital, where he had practiced for almost four decades. Michael J. Ryan Jr. He died in the hospitals Neuro-Cardiac Intensive Care unit, in the company of family and under the care of all the nurses he had worked with, said his wife, Priscilla Murphy Ryan. Dr. Ryan had always wanted to be a doctor like his father, Michael Joseph Ryan. although when it came time to decide on a specialty, he chose cardiology rather than practicing in Kansas City, Kan., in the area of ear, nose and throat ailments, as his father had. In 1967, Dr. Ryan graduated from the University of Kansas Medical School and finished an internship there before serving in the Navy as a lieutenant commander. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Hartford Hospital and a fellowship in cardiology under Nobel Peace Prize recipient Bernard Lown at Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston.
