A protein-RNA Structure Hints at How Viruses Commandeer Human Proteins

Dr. Blanton Tolbert worked with PhD student Christopher Morgan, former PhD student Carrie Rollins and postdoctoral researcher Jeffery Levengood (along with Jennifer Meagher, James Delproposto and Jeanne Stuckey from the University of Michigan) toproduce the first image of an important human protein as it binds with ribonucleic acid (RNA), a discovery that could offer clues to how some viruses, including HIV, control expression of their genetic material. For more information, follow the link here for a short summary of the research.

Open to students of all levels at Northeast Ohio colleges and universities, PITCH U provides students an opportunity to compete with peers, win prizes, and present their business ideas in 90 seconds to a panel of real investors. Marvin Pollum won top prize at the PITCH U competition here at Case held on November 7th. Pollum gave a 90 second pitch about his groups research into PDT for skin cancer.
