BUTTE - Addiction counselors say people fighting drug and alcohol addictions may be reluctant to ask for help.

"What people in society see as an addicted person's problem is the addicted person's solution to their problem," said Bill Foster, a licensed addictions counselor at the Butte-Silver Bow Drug Addiction Treatment Facility. "If we had better coping mechanisms and better solutions, we wouldn't be drinking and using."

The Butte Silver Bow Drug Addiction Treatment Facility can offer solutions. The facility provides outpatient rehab and treatment for men, women and adolescents, according to Foster.

The services are not free, but they are income based. Patients must be in a place where they are willing to help themselves and ready to quit using, Foster said.

The facility recently started a group for people ages 55 and older.

Counselors say there is a stigma in Butte for people with drug and alcohol addictions.

The facility is located at 25 West Front Street, Butte, MT 59701. You can reach the facility at (406)497-5070.
