IVF specialist Bourn Hall has started a fresh phase of expansion by opening a new fertility centre in Peterborough.

The satellite clinic opened today and follows a previously announced 3.5 million investment by Mobeus Equity Partners to support Bourn Halls growth strategy.

Bourn Hall is the leading provider of NHS-funded IVF treatment in the East of England.

Last year saw record clinical pregnancy success rates among all patients across all of its clinics with more than half (55.8 per cent) of patients aged 37 or under becoming pregnant following IVF treatment at Bourn Hall.

The figure is above the national average at a statistically significant rate according to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA). Although fertility declines with age, the results for women aged 38 and over were also excellent at 38.2 per cent clinical pregnancy rate. Peterborough was said to be the UKs fastest growing city and the one with the second highest private sector employment growth according to the recent Centre for Cities 2014 Outlook report.

Dr Mike Macnamee, chief executive at Bourn Hall Clinic, said the Peterborough opening continued an exciting programme of expansion for the company.

Over the last four years we have continued to add to our network of clinics to deliver high-quality, personalised fertility treatment to people closer to home.

Our latest success rate data not only shows we are delivering excellent care, but also that our core model can be successfully replicated across all clinics in our group.

Bourn Hall Clinic was established more than 30 years ago in the Cambridgeshire village of Bourn by the pioneers of IVF, Steptoe and Edwards, following the birth of the first test-tube baby, Louise Brown, in 1978.

Expansion in recent times has seen Bourn Hall acquire a full service clinic in Colchester in 2009 and open Norfolks first IVF clinic in Wymondham in June 2013.
