JUST 6,000 is now needed to pay for Bromsgrove tot, Georgia Almquest's pioneering treatment to combat her cerebral palsy condition.

The Hope for Georgia campaign was started for the two-year-old six weeks ago, with the aim of raising the 20,000 needed so the toddler can undergo revolutionary stem cell treatment which will enable her to walk.

With the fund now topping 14,000 Georgia's mum Natalie said the support had been overwhelming

"Georgia is doing great. No-one thought the campaign would take off this quick in six weeks. It's been brilliant," she said.

Natalie is now stepping up research into where Georgia might go to receive the procedure which is currently provided in Germany or America.

The cost is the same in both countries but Natalie is trying to get in contact with people from the UK who have been treated at either facility to hear their experiences and decide where would be best for Georgia.

Fund-raising events continue with a fun night at the Austin Social Club on Tessel Lane, Longbridge tonight (Friday) and tomorrow there is a fancy dress Halloween party at the Boat and Railway in Stoke Prior.

And on Thursday (November 1) a pair are set to take to the skies for the cause. Friends of Georgia's family Gaz Evans and Vikki Wilday are doing a skydive at Hinton Airfield in Northampton.
