Dee Moser passed away at his winter home in Washington, Utah, on Feb. 7, 2013, five weeks following open heart surgery at the age of 83. He was born May 14, 1929, to Sarah Walton and Harold Titensor in Thayne. He grew up on a farm in Bedford and learned the value of hard work from his dad, Joseph Hyrum Moser. Dee married his sweetheart, Louise Merritt on Nov. 7, 1947, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Dee and Louise moved to Jackson in 1948 and have lived there since. It was then he began his career as a milkman, delivering milk in glass bottles, sometimes using a team and sleigh in the harsh Jackson Hole winters. He built a business and reputation based on service, a trait that he was proud of and exemplified wherever he went, even in retirement. He held several church callings, but was most proud of his calling as ward compassionate services leader. He also loved to dress as Santa Claus to brighten the lives of old and young alike. Dee is survived by his wife, Louise; his children, Dennis (LeeAnn), James (Amy), Paul (Dixie) and daughter-in-law, Marge; sisters Donna, Betty, Jennie; brother, John; 11 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother Sarah, dad Joseph and son Ron. Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at the LDS Church in Bedford. Interment was in the Bedford Cemetery.

Helen Wilkes Johnson was born on July 23, 1926, in Bedford. She was the daughter of William Edgar and Lillie Fluckiger Wilkes. She had an older sister, Carol, to welcome her to the family. Later two brothers, Boyd and Nord, and two sisters, Myrna and Jeanne, joined the family. Helen had a wonderful childhood playing with her siblings and friends. Her father worked at the local creameries so they lived in Bedford, Freedom and then Afton. They lived above the Afton Creamery for a few years before buying a home on Adams Street. Helen being close to school, church and the movie theater. She never missed a movie if she could help it. After graduating from Star Valley High School she went to California where her sister Carol was working at Douglas Aircraft. She got a job on the assembly line. She only stayed 10 months and was homesick the whole time. They both returned to the valley and she got a job at the hospital as a nurses aid. She married Dale C. (Bob) Johnson and moved to Auburn where she lived from that time on. They raised five children; Connie, Dale, Steve, Ballard and Artie Johnson. Dale served in Vietnam where he was critically injured after only being there a short time, when a tank he was walking by hit a booby-trap which exploded. He died from his injuries three weeks later. This was the greatest tragedy of Helens life. She enjoyed being a mother and loved her children with all her heart. She waited on them hand and foot and spoiled all of them. Ballard was active in sports and Helen and Bob traveled the state of Wyoming watching his football and basketball games. She was active in the church and enjoyed the good people in Auburn. She was a Primary teacher for many years and served for a time as the president. She was a Visiting Teacher her whole married life except for the past few years. Helen loved Star Valley. She loved the changing of the seasons, each with its own particular beauty. She loved to embroider and made many beautiful pillow cases, table clothes, sofa pillows and wall hangings and gave them all away to her family. Every Christmas her grandchildren looked forward to receiving a pair of her homemade hot pads. She was a great cook known for delicious, raisin-filled cookies and prize winning fudge and penuche. She passed away, Wednesday, Feb. 13, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years old. Funeral services were held in the Meadows Ward Chapel on Monday, Feb. 18. Burial was in the Auburn Cemetery next to her husband, Bob, who died in April, 2012, and her son, Dale. She is survived by her daughter, Connie (Michael) Brown, Auburn; three sons, Steven Arthur (Karen) Johnson, Thayne; Ballard Wilkes (Paddy) Johnson, Auburn, and Arthur W. (Shelly) Johnson, St. George, Utah; 17 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings, Carol Gardner, Boyd Wilkes, Nord (Joy) Wilkes all of Afton; Myrna (Lynn) Brown Mesquite, Nevada; and Jeanne Wilkes, Bountiful, Utah; brother-in-law, Ross Johnson, Providence, Utah, and sister-in-law, Eva Johnson and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; son, Dale William; parents, Bill and Lillie Wilkes; her parents-in-law, Art and Elizabeth Johnson, her brothers-in-law, Francis, Rollin, Verde, Norman, Orson, Ervon and Douglas Johnson and Garland Toland; and sisters-in-law, Ione Wilkes, Elgin, Gene, and Louise Johnson, LaVon Hemmert, Grace Toland and Elma Pico.

Vernal Merrill Lindberg, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather passed away Feb. 21, 2013 at the age of 82. Vern was born Nov. 9, 1930, to Axel Justus and Ethel Laura Olson Lindberg in Osmond. He was the youngest of eight children. He was raised in Star Valley and graduated from Star Valley High School. Vern married Donna Lue Hoopes on July 19, 1966 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Vern and Donna made their home in the Bay area of California. They owned Lindbergs Styling and Pro-Fab Detailing. Although sales were his profession, which he enjoyed, his favorite pastime was flying his Piper plane with Donna at his side. He will always be remembered for his cowboy boots and hat; his love of country music and dancing; playing his harmonica and fiddle; detailing his cars; and a home cooked steak. Always vocal, everyone knew where you stood with Vern, which was attributed to his Swedish heritage. He was always very proud of his roots. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include his wife Donna; son, Bryan (Susan); grandson, Jonathan (Melanie); great-grandsons, Alexander and Nicholas, and his brother Wilton of Osmond. Vern is preceded in death by his parents and six siblings. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 26 at Myers Ogden Mortuary. Burial took place in the Afton Cemetery.

Funeral services for Atha Crook Jackson will be held on Thursday, Feb. 28 at noon in the Freedom LDS Church. Viewings will take place on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Schwab Funeral Chapel in Thayne and Thursday from 10-11:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
