KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knoxville police will host a collection event for old or unwanted prescription medications or over-the-counter medicines on Saturday, Nov. 17.

Another collection will take place in Scott County on the same day.

The collections will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday. The locations are:

City workers and law enforcement officials will collect and properly dispose of the unwanted medicines.

The empty plastic containers for the medicines will be recycled if left with the event organizers.

Old, unwanted or unused pharmaceuticals are a household hazard to children and anyone else who might take them without a prescription.

At all other times, Knoxville and Knox County residents can bring old or unused medicines to the Knoxville Police Department Safety Building at 800 Howard Baker Jr. Avenue, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
