Chances are, you know someone who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. But MS affects each person differently, so understanding the disease is the key to treatment. March is the perfect month to gain the knowledge,as it's MS awareness month.

"It impacts every minute of every day," says Susan Terry who was diagnosed with MS four years ago.

"My vision just totally went double one day," says Terry.

But for almost ten years before that, she was told by doctors she had Lupus.

"You lived a good eight to ten years of life thinking I had Lupus and now all of the sudden I have a whole different thing to deal with," explains Terry.

Terry's symptoms include being fatigue, a loss of balance, and worsening eye sight.

"That's one of the problems with MS, it's frequently diagnosed wrong or it takes long to get the diagnoses because the symptoms can vary so much from person to person and can also mimic other diseases," explains Terry.

Now Terry uses a cane to get around easier.

"I wasn't quite sure about it, but when she [doctor] gave it to me and I started using it, it's great. It gives you a little extra security," says Terry.

Terry is the facilitator of the local MS support group, 'Hearts of Hope,' she hopes she can help others find an easier alternative way of living with MS.
