GREAT FALLS - Top researchers in the fields of stem cell biology, cancer, AIDS, human embryonic development and prion diseases presented their research in a discussion hosted by the McLaughlin Research Institute in Great Falls on Friday.
One researcher created Parkinson's in a dish, and she can now start exploring ways to stop the disease. Research has reached a plateau in the last few years, and as a result, funding has decreased.
Although state initiatives have been successful in funding research, money is still an ongoing issue and need.
"I think there's a need for a serious conversation regarding whether or not we believe in science and technology anymore, do we actually want to invest," said Renee Reijo Pera, vice president for research at Montana State University.
McLaughlin Research Institute researchers tell us as they continue to break ground in health research, they hope to become a more well-known name in medical advancement.
