WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

N-of-One, Inc., provider of Diagnostic Strategy Roadmaps and Treatment Strategy Roadmaps for personalized cancer care, announced today the appointment of Christine Cournoyer as the companys Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Cournoyer brings to N-of-One more than 25 years of executive leadership experience with healthcare technology companies, including her position as President and Chief Operating Officer of Picis, a provider of health information software solutions installed in more than 1,800 medical centers and hospital systems worldwide prior to its acquisition by United Healthcare in 2010.

Jennifer Levin Carter, MD, MPH, the companys founder and President, will remain President and has taken on additional responsibility as Chief Medical Officer, an expanded role to lead further product development of N-of-Ones diagnostic and treatment strategy roadmaps for wider use by healthcare providers and other collaborators.

Over the past four years, weve helped hundreds of cancer patients access our diagnostic and treatment strategy roadmaps as we developed and systematized our PrecisionWorks platform, said Dr. Carter. N-of-One is now positioned to scale this platform to power oncologists, regional cancer centers, and provider networks anywhere with leading-edge, data-driven knowledge and decision-support tools. We are extremely pleased that Chris, a distinguished and proven leader in the healthcare IT industry, was attracted to the vast potential of N-of-One to help transform oncology care, and we have great confidence in her ability to lead the company into its next phase of growth.

We are very fortunate to have Chris join the N-of-One team at this important stage in the companys development, said Joseph OConnor, a member of N-of-Ones Board of Directors. Chris is an ideal leader with a successful track record of delivering valuable clinical information technology solutions to the provider market. Her deep experience working with large healthcare networks will be a critical factor in realizing N-of-Ones growth strategy. N-of-One is well positioned in the exciting field of personalized medicine due to the significant efforts of Jennifer and the talented N-of-One team. We will benefit immensely from Jennifers continued thought leadership and ability to envision new ways to enhance healthcare delivery through the use of more precise clinical knowledge.

Were living in a time of unprecedented opportunity to transform cancer treatment and outcomes, said Ms. Cournoyer. For the first time, we have the knowledge and capabilities not only to identify genetic disruptions in an individual patient's tumor cells that may be molecular drivers of that person's unique cancer, but to match the results of this patient-specific tumor profile to precise knowledge, diagnostic tools, and treatments that target the molecular underpinnings of each patients specific disease. It is a great privilege to have been asked to lead N-of-One as the company prepares to scale its successful precision oncology platform for wider use by regional cancer centers and provider networks that are competing for share in the fast-growing and increasingly competitive oncology market.

Prior to joining N-of-One, Christine Cournoyer was President and Chief Operating Officer of Picis (now a division of United Healthcare), a leading company in the healthcare IT market offering software solutions that bridge revenue cycle and clinical workflow management for the high-acuity operations of hospitals (emergency rooms, operating rooms, and critical care). Under Ms. Cournoyers leadership, Picis' revenues and profits more than doubled in five years, resulting in its sale to United Healthcare in 2010. At the time of its acquisition, Picis systems were installed in more than 1,800 medical centers, hospitals, and integrated delivery networks in 19 countries around the world. Prior to joining Picis, Ms. Cournoyer was Managing Director of Harte-Hanks, a database and analytics marketing company. She also served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Lightbridge, Inc. and held senior management positions at IBM, including Vice President of Business Transformation and Chief Information Officer of IBM's software group; and she formerly served as Senior Vice President at Lotus Development. Ms. Cournoyer was named one of the 10 Most Influential Women in Technology by Businessweek magazine and one of Boston Magazines Top 100 Women Who Run This Town. She served on the boards of the Stride Rite Corporation, GTECH, and BJ's Wholesale Club during the period that BJ's was taken private. She is currently a Corporator for Emerson Hospital and a member of the Boston Club and the Women Corporate Directors. Ms. Cournoyer earned a B.S. from UMass, Lowell and an MA in Economics from Northeastern University. She also attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Executive Education Program.

Jennifer Levin Carter, MD, MPH, founded N-of-One in 2008 and currently serves as President and Chief Medical Officer.
