Why 'Grey's Anatomy' Jaggie Is the Worst Idea Ever – BuddyTV (blog)

Posted: Published on June 4th, 2017

The Grey's Anatomy Season 13 finale introduced us to the world of Jaggie. Apparently this had been teased for a while, but honestly I never saw it. For those who aren't quite sure about shipper names, Jaggie is Jackson and Maggie, who are step-siblings through their parents' (Catherine and Richard) marriage. It's been two weeks since the Grey's Anatomy season finale and fans are still discussing the idea, with the majority agreeing that this is the worst relationship Shonda Rhimes and her writers have ever come up with. I, for one, fully agree with these fans. Jaggie is the worst idea ever for Grey's. The Relationship Came out of Nowhere I know a lot of fans discussed the idea of Jaggie happening weeks before the season finale. I remember soon after Maggie's mom died and fans said there were hints that they were getting together in those moments of the two together. Now, fans do have a habit of seeing things that aren't always there. This is the beauty of TV. It's possible to pick up on sly looks or the way someone says a line but have completely different opinions about what the characters actually meant. That scene of … Continue reading

Half-Marathon Runner With Cerebral Palsy Set to Start San Diego Race at 3AM – NBC Southern California

Posted: Published on June 4th, 2017

WATCH LIVE Before most Rock 'n'Roll San Diego runners even wake up Sunday morning, Jamie Watts will already be on the course heading towards the finish line. Watts is the first runner of Sunday's half-marathon, set to leave the starting line at 3 a.m. She has cerebral palsy, which makes routine tasks more like routine challenges. But, with the help of friends who accompany her along the course, 13.1 miles is well within reach. It just takes her a little longer. While typical runners average right around a 10-minute mile, Watts clocks in closer to 30 minutes per mile, which is why she starts so early. Watts says the roads aren't always closed at the beginning of her race, so she often runs on a "parallel path" using sidewalks next to the road until the course is completely blocked off. While she has already completed more than 100 races, mostly 5Ks, this will be just her third half-marathon. She is aiming for a finish time between seven and eight hours -- "hopefully closer to seven," she says. Watts started training for races primarily just to stay healthy but says if the inspires others with disabilities to try new things it's … Continue reading

Remarkable Seniors: Cerebral palsy didn’t hinder this remarkable graduate – Florida Times-Union

Looking at the smoothly blended smoky shadow on Victoria Aparicios eyelids, no one would ever know her mother once applied all her makeup. Looking at her flawless red lipstick, no one would ever know Victoria once struggled to use her own hands. Born four months premature, she wasnt expected to survive, and if she did, doctors said Victoria would most likely suffer crippling disabilities. They werent sure sure how much damage her brain sustained, nor did they know how severe her cerebral palsy would be. Just last month, Victoria, 18, graduated with honors from St. Joseph Academy in St. Augustine and dreams of becoming a makeup artist. So, shes a miracle, said Cynthia Aparicio, her mother. [Her graduation] is bittersweet, and probably every parent says that, but especially because of Victorias journey. Ive had to be there so much. Its amazing to see, but its going to be really hard to let go. Her mother and her father, Victor, wont have to let go just yet. Victoria plans to attend Daytona State College for business, and the college has a branch in Victorias hometown. The degree, she said, will help her create a business and brand in makeup artistry, but … Continue reading

‘It’s like no other ache in the world’ – Eagle-Tribune

Posted: Published on June 4th, 2017

U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Tommy Dubois shielded loved ones from his unkempt home and muddled thoughts with a knee-high gate propped in the entrance-way, the type used to corral small children and dogs. Without it, his rambunctious rescue pit bull named Guinness would greet people with two salt-and-peppered paws on their chest. But the flimsy plastic barricade had a way of protecting 30-year-old Tommy as much as his visitors. The line between friend and foe was razor thin for Tommy after a tour of duty in Fallujah, Iraq, in 2007 and 2008. The unexpected became permanently intolerable for the Salem, N.H., man. "He would always have the gate up so no one could get past the kitchen," his mother, Ellen Hill, said. "If I had walked through and got to his room, I would have seen the depression right there. He wasn't brought up to live like that. It became clear that he was hiding something." Barricaded doors and a general disinterest in self-care, both out of character for Tommy, were warning signs that something was not right. But his family didn't recognize them until it was too late. On May 4 in his Hill Street home, Tommy took his … Continue reading
