A-DNA – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Posted: Published on May 17th, 2016

A-DNA is one of the possible double helical structures which DNA can adopt. A-DNA is thought to be one of three biologically active double helical structures along with B-DNA and Z-DNA. It is a right-handed double helix fairly similar to the more common B-DNA form, but with a shorter, more compact helical structure whose base pairs are not perpendicular to the helix-axis as in B-DNA. It was discovered by Rosalind Franklin, who also named the A and B forms. She showed that DNA is driven into the A form when under dehydrating conditions. Such conditions are commonly used in to form crystals, and many DNA crystal structures are in the A form. The same helical conformation occurs in double-stranded RNAs, and in DNA-RNA hybrid double helices. A-DNA is fairly similar to B-DNA given that it is a right-handed double helix with major and minor grooves. However, as shown in the comparison table below, there is a slight increase in the number of base pairs (bp) per turn (resulting in a smaller twist angle), and smaller rise per base pair (making A-DNA 20-25% shorter than B-DNA). The major groove of A-DNA is deep and narrow, while the minor groove is wide … Continue reading

Journal of Pain Research 2015: 8: 437-447 Introduction: This was a prospective case series designed to investigate treatment for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears using an injection of autologous bone marrow concentrate. Methods: Consecutive adult patients presenting to a private outpatient interventional musculoskeletal and pain practice with knee pain, ACL laxity on exam, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) evidence of a grade 1, 2, or 3 ACL tears with less than 1 cm retraction were eligible for this study. Eligible patients were treated with an intraligamentous injection of autologous bone marrow concentrate, using fluoroscopic guidance. Pre- and postprocedural sagittal MRI images of the ACLs were analyzed using ImageJ software to objectively quantify changes between pre- and posttreatment scans. Five different types of measurement of ACL pixel intensity were examined as a proxy for ligament integrity. In addition pain visual analog scale (VAS) and Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS) values were recorded at baseline and at 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and annually postinjection. Objective outcomes measured were pre- to post-MRI measurement changes, as analyzed by the ImageJ software. Subjective outcomes measured were changes in the VAS and LEFS, and a self-rated percentage improvement. Results: Seven of ten patients showed … Continue reading

Stem Cell Injection Treatment for Joint Injuries & Arthritis

Posted: Published on May 1st, 2016

Regenexxspends heavily on innovationand we have a PhD led lab research team and a physician/bio stats led clinical research team to constantly update what we can offer. A couple of years agowe started various projects to determine if we could come up with a way of processing bone marrow that nobody had ever used. Seeking todouble or even triple the number of stem cells extracted in a bone marrow aspiration, we exceeded our own expectations and increasedit 500%+ over what we could do before. Using our previousprocedure, which was already superior to anything else, we could extract about 3-4times thestem cells per cc over what the average automated centrifuge could do. This is important, because these little machines are used by 98% of the physicians performingbone marrow stem cell procedures. There is no real technical expertise required to use these machines. You just place the sample in the machine and push the ON button. Because of this and the fact that these machines are aone-size-fits-all solution to process very different bone marrow samples from very different patients, it wasnt hard to outperform thesedevices. However, our research team investigated many different ways to process marrow. After discarding many, we finally discovered … Continue reading
