Puzzle this out! Match famous drugs with their target protein. Science Time! Are you ready to take on this new challenge?! Try to match a big molecule (protein) with a small one (ligand / drug), like a jigsaw puzzle you need to orientate all the pieces of the two molecules to maximize the number of possible interactions. Like a key (drug) and a lock (protein) you need to create the just right key hole to use that special key and unlock the next level.Chemistry Docking is your new original, engaging and casual game app. Is it a puzzle game? ... Even more ... It is a simulation of what scientists do!Discovery ScienceLife is based on molecular interactions and scientists study how molecules come in contact, recognize, bind and modify each other. How do they do that? Have you ever wondered about the drugs you take and where they come from? In one of the first phases of advanced studies of drug discovery, researchers design new promising drugs at the computer. They match molecules and select the one that creates the best interactions with a specific target. Play ModeTap into the science world and play Chemistry Docking: drag your ligand into the … Continue reading

A’s hoping new faces make for same clubhouse chemistry

Posted: Published on March 31st, 2015

The roster that the A's will trot out for opening day looks so little like the team that ended the 2014 season, names should be on the front and back of jerseys to help fans identify all the new players. In making so many changes, A's general manager Billy Beane was accused by some of breaking up team chemistry, a clubhouse mixture that has led to three consecutive postseason appearances. With nine trades in the offseason involving 27 players and the loss of seven prime free agents, the faces in the clubhouse have changed. But after some early reservations, the A's players who remain from last season have come to believe that the good vibes that have historically resided in the Oakland clubhouse haven't gone anywhere. Oakland Athletics second baseman Ben Zobrist (18) makes the throw to first base getting Los Angeles Angels batter Chris Iannetta out in the second inning of their spring training game at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Ariz., on Saturday, March 7, 2015. (Doug Duran/Bay Area News Group) ( Doug Duran ) "To me, the chemistry has been here longer than any of us in Oakland," catcher Stephen Vogt said. "Those old A's teams of the … Continue reading

Focus on multidisciplinary research

Posted: Published on March 31st, 2015

Former director of IICT, K.V. Raghavan exhorted the students to focus on multidisciplinary research. Speaking at the inaugural of two-day national seminar on Recent Advances in Chemistry on Monday at Kakatiya University, Mr Ragavan urged the research fraternity to take up interdisciplinary research without confining themselves to their specific areas of research. He said that researchers should think beyond traditional areas like organic, inorganic, physical chemistry and should promote new specialisations and focus on emerging field in chemistry such as stereo-chemistry, organo-metallic chemistry, thermo-chemistry, computational chemistry, electro-chemistry etc which are going to play a key role in future. There are ample opportunities in the field of chemistry and initiatives are required to grab them. Chemistry plays a key role in inventing new products and developing new processes, Mr Ragavan said. Delivering key note address on How chemistry impacts our health and wealth, IICT scientist and Bhatnagar awardee G. Narahari Sastry said that chemistry has a bearing on every branch of science research. Its role in drug and pharmaceutical field brought drastic changes in health conditions and increased longevity of man. There are no territorial barriers for research and scientists should be prepared to work with experts of other disciplines in … Continue reading

Pompano Beach, Florida (PRWEB) March 30, 2015 The top stem cell therapy practice in South Florida, Center of Regenerative Orthopedics, is now offering procedures to help patients avoid the need for hip and knee replacement. The procedures are partially covered by insurance and are offered by a highly skilled, Board Certified Orthopedic doctor in an outpatient setting. Call (954) 399-6945 for more information and scheduling. Stem cell procedures for joint arthritis and pain are now mainstream and represent a cutting edge option for patients. Most nonoperative joint treatments do not actually alter the course of the disease, rather, simply act as a proverbial bandaid for relief. Stem cells, on the other hand, have the capacity to actually repair and regenerate damaged tissue such as cartilage, tendon and ligament. Degenerative and rheumatoid arthritis affects tens of millions of Americans. Stem cell procedures have been showing excellent results for pain relief and functional improvements in small studies. By having the procedures partially covered by insurance, it makes them convenient for the general public to obtain the cutting edge option. Joint replacement should be considered a last resort option for treatment. While typically successful, there are potential complications and they are not meant … Continue reading
