When Alyssa Thomas would return to the location of some of her greatest achievements last season, there was something undeniably missing. This just wasnt the same Union Grove High School girls basketball team she used to know. These Broncos werent even a reasonable facsimile of the program she started for from 2007-11, when it went 76-20 with two conference championships. There was still veteran coach Rob Domagalski. There were still talented players. But chemistry? Thomas wasnt seeing much of that. We had such great chemistry on my team because we had all been playing together since the fourth or fifth grade, said Thomas, now a special education teacher at Union Grove. What I saw last year was a little rough. What Thomas has been seeing this season is a complete revival. Coming off consecutive seasons of 13-10, 9-14, and 11-13, the Broncos are 16-2, have won 10 straight since their last loss Dec. 13 (47-43 to Case) and are ranked eighth in Division 2 in the most recent Associated Press state poll. CGH ready to open second cardiac cath lab

STERLING Time is of the essence when it comes to treating heart problems. Because of the important role the cardiac catheterization lab has played in saving lives at CGH Medical Center, a second cath lab will soon open. CGH does between 100 and 120 cardiac cath procedures each month. Cardiac health professionals are driven by what is commonly referred to as door to balloon time the time it takes for patients to get treatment right after a heart attack. "The national standard is 90 minutes, and having this second lab allows us to consistently do this," said Valerie Sigafus, an RN and assistant director of invasive cardiology. "With one lab, if someone was already in there, you can't just stop in the middle of a procedure." An open house is planned from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday to give the community a chance to see the cath and cardio labs before the new equipment is used for the first time. CGH opened its first catheterization lab on Aug. 29, 2012, the first phase of its $2 million Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory project.
